    "Shooter" Movie Trivia

Here's a trivia question for you movie buffs. The movie "Shooter" was filmed mostly in British Columbia. Chase scenes and river scenes were shot in New Westminster on the Fraser River, and assassination scenes in Independence Park, Philly. Yet, during Swager's getaway, after he dunked his car in the river, there is a scene of a police chopper flying over a moored battleship. I believe it to be the New Jersey, BB62,moored as a museum in the Delaware River.
But that wold place that scene back near Philly, and, due to direction of the ship, the chopper is flying from the Jersey side. There is no naval vessel I can find moored in the Fraser River, but I can find no mention of this online anywhere. Anybody got a line on this?

Admiral Dewey's flagship, the Olympia, is on the PA side.

In addition, there is a mothball fleet on the PA side at the old naval yard. I believe the Wisconsin, also an Iowa class ship, was there at the time.

    Good info!
Definitely not the mothball fleet. She is a solitary (I believe) ship along the open river.
The Olympia as moored almost directly across the river form the New Jersey, but may be
out of the scope of the camera in the film. She has a protective pier along her port side,
toward the open river. I do not recall that pier in the movie.
She also is moored alongside a sub, and has an old masted ship ahead of her. However, I understand
that those are transitory things that may or may not have been present at the time of filming.
I will have to revisit the scene, but the bow looks to be Iowa class as opposed to the older, backward sloped dreadnaughts.
    Interesting...

Just saw that movie... rather interesting... especially the "haves verses the have nots" statement.

I took this picture of the New Jersey from Penn's Landing the summer before that movie was released.

Google Earth also shows the New Jersey still there.
Flying a jet is no different than riding a bicycle. It's just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes.

    Yup. I saw that.
The park itself is several blocks from the river, but the BB62 not far south of there on the Jersey side.
Is that close enough to count as the same location I wonder??
As the chopper views the ship bow-on and on the left side and banking a bit left, the Park is not in view.
But, maybe that is the answer...
