    Watching CL for a steal

How does one sell a stolen Stradivarius? Unless you play violin, why steal one of these? Aren't they all registered/authenticated?

I'm sure there are private collectors who would pay for it. Same could be said about basically all art that gets stolen.

The thieves will make a deal with the insurance company. It's like kidnapping but doesn't carry the federal penalty.
You can further the brotherhood of man by eliminating class.
You can lift the wage earner up by equalizing earnings.
You can bring about prosperity by overturning the holders of power.
You can strengthen the weak by eating the the strong.
You can help the poor by destroying the rich.

Every Stradivarius ever made... is accounted for. The one now "missing" is called the "Lipinski violin". Although is isn't uncommon to transport valuables without formal armed transport..... I find it hard to believe Mr. Almond was expected to act as his own "gray man". He doesn't own... but has played this violin publicly for sometime.

I would have expected the violin to be transported by an off duty police officer.

Exactly, you can't just lift a Stradavarious and list it on E-bay.
"Normal" is just a setting on a washing machine.

Well, since this is Foo... an out of context quote from the above-linked recovery article: "Allah is also charged with possessing marijuana."
