Samsung saga

In November 2012, I bought a 46" Samsung Smart LED TV on sale for $745. Loved it! Then, JUST after the 1 year warrantee ran out, the WiFi sensor went out (this was determined by remote Samsung Techs), and Samsung proceeded to set me up with a repair service. Nobody called, x-mas came & went, and I called back. Again, they were going to hook me up with a repair service, but this time, for free - since they obviously ignored me the 1st time. At this point, I was requesting some sort of prorate refund on the TV... In the past 2 weeks, I must have spoken to 4 different repair companies around the country, and NONE of them are coming over to fix the TV - the closest place is 158 miles away. Anyway, last night this lady calls and tells me the Samsung cannot fix the TV because no one services my area (makes one wonder why Samsung sells large items they cannot service?!?), and wanted to know if I wanted to pay $400 for a 2013 model, or have the TV picked up and receive a refund check for $725.40.

So, yeah, I go for the TV pick-up and check....(we had purchased a new TV (with an external WiFi dongle!), and given the wifi-less one to my son, who promptly passes his smaller TV on to someone else. I guess I'll use most of the refund check to get him a TV) But, I have to say, spending 2 months going around in circles with Samsung has left me with the determination not to purchase any large Samsung item again!!

Better luck to you with whatever the next tv is. I have two Samsungs (40 & 55). My 55", the newer of the two, has lately required a reboot/restart in order for netflix or any of the internet stuff to connect. D'oh.

That sucks. I've always been a fan of their products. Sadly, you probably wouldnt have faired nearly as well with another company.

We've had bad luck with a Samsung TV and 2 Samsung DVD player/recorders. The DVDs both crapped out right after the warranty ended. The 50" Plasma TV's design makes it annoying to use with an antenna and antenna rotor.

My tv is acetylene powered. My computers are powered by methane.

I'm beginning to think maps in Korea don't have WV on them... It's been a week since Samsung offered to pick up the TV and send me a refund check. Haven't heard from anyone about actually picking the TV up. I'm thinking about calling them when I get home from work and aggravating someone into just sending me a check.

I will only ever buy Samsung TVs/monitors.

My first TV was a 32" Samsung CRT. It worked beautifully, and the only reason I got rid of it was I purchased an HDTV.

The HDTV I purchased is a 40" Samsung. The only problem I've had with it was a capacitor went bad, causing it to not power up. I got it replaced by a local guy for $100-ish (I can't remember exactly how much it was, but it was cheap). Turns out it was a known problem.

I later bought a 23" Samsung monitor for my computer. Within the first 2 weeks of owning it, the monitor snapped off of its stand. I had to battle with Samsung for a couple of weeks before they sent me a replacement monitor, which was also broken. I then battled with them for another week to get them to send me a replacement for the replacement. That was 2 years ago. It's working great.

I have to say that it is unfortunate that Samsung makes generally awesome products...because even in my own experience, their knowing so causes the customer service aspect to STINK. I have had two TERRIBLE experiences with them concerning a TV and a music player. The player was a loss, but the TV turned out to be repairable with a $3 worth of parts and a solder gun.
