almost got a new bike

it was at pawn shop a khl or something like that it was a cruiser with a 7 speed nexus hub at first they said 40 bucks then the manager said 100. are them nexus hubs decent? are hubs better then deraliers?

I think it depends on the hubs in question, but from what I know of them, they are heavier, but require less maintenance. And some can be shifted while not pedaling.

We have a 10 year old Electra with a Nexus 7 that we store outside. The bike's covered in rust but the hub works fine.

I had one on a Black Phantom repop

No long term testing as i had the bike for about a year (had to sell to pay for medical bills). Only put about 100 miles on it but it worked well. I have a 3 speed on another bike that also works well although a little slow when upshifting. I still prefer my dr equpped bikes for serious rides but like the 3 speed for casual outings.

I'd be curious to know what kind of bike as $100 might be a real good price.

My wife has a Raleigh with a Nexus 7. As long as the grade isn't over 2% it does fine.
