Update: My ongoing reccovery

I'm happy to say I'm making progress. I have recovered a minute amount of motor control over my left foot and ankle. Still no sensation other than that peculiar vibration feeling like a constant Richter 2 earthquake under my foot. My neurologist says that's related to phantom limb pain, in that the brain is trying to keep that sector of the brain alive by manufacturing a stimulus.

I am up to 1000 feet on the walker, as well. I did take a fall again last week on the stairs......Sunday, the ramp is going up. Still have and will have a lot of chronic pain, and am on a pain management program since I can't take nonnarcotic pain meds due to the Warfarin. I'm on the Fentanyl patch and hydrocodone orals, probably for the restof my life. Chronic pain will at best stay constant and more likely, increase over time.

It is very good to hear from you!

I had just been thinking of you and wondering how the progress was going. Glad to see that you are still getting better.

Best of luck in your ongoing recovery Tom. I'm sure the doc has given you this schpiel, but don't get frustrated with seemingly slow progress. It took me 3 years just to be able to wink out of my left eye after my brain trauma.

Good to hear from you.

It sounds like you can stand in as a full time "stoned guy" for us. Are you willing to take on that awesome responsibility?

Been sending good vibes your way daily, glad to get a progress report. If you're going to be on pain meds long-term, be careful of the acetaminophen in the hydrocodone pills.

He may also have to explain what "god progress" is.

Tom, I was starting to wonder about you. Good to know you are still alive and attempting to kick with that leg.

I have been wondering how you're doing. It sounds rough. I hope for the best outcome for you. Maybe you can fish a little this spring.

Already got out the poles and caught a few fish in the salty side. Nothing spectacular, but an 8 pound drum feels like a Blue Marlin on an ultralight spinner reel hooked onto an ugly stick Crappie pole. I'm using ultralight because I'm not physically up to a 50+ pound Crevelle Jack or larger fish.

And the man is still getting better catches than me!
