Bushfires in Australia

http://www.theage.com.au/photogaller...209-329ra.html

Photo 8.

My wife visited her best high school friend last week and stayed for a new days in her new home (purchased in November with her new husband).

The friend has now just lost her house and everything in it - but everyone is alive (including the cows and sheep!).

Reinforces the power of nature...

In six months you'll probably see similar stories coming out of Southern California. So far we've had only 2 inches/5cm of rainfall, and the previous two winters have also had below-average rainfall totals.

Well that seriously sucks. I really feel for them but unfortunately there not alone and all to often these fires are deliberately started. There needs to bea major overhaul in sentencing laws for these fire bugs, in fact they should be charged with murder and locked away for life!
Also when there's bushfires I can't help thinking of all the wildlife and what happens to them, it makes me very sad to think about it. At home at night I can sometimes smell the smoke from fires raging out of control in the Southern Flinders Ranges for over a week now!
