Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, wishes, and support. My mom went home to be with her mother on 4/16/14. She only lasted 26 days after her diagnosis. Thankfully I was able to be there when she left her earthly body.

I am not going to tell you sorry, as I know you are tired of hearing it. Just know that I will be praying for you and your family.

Tiffani... I am sorry. My brother died of pancreatic cancer two years ago. I understand the disease and the prognosis.

I will pray that your family finds comfort and peace. Take care... of yourself too. It's a hard thing to go through...

BTW I hope this silly story is comforting and does not offend... my brother was an interesting weird character. He could quote almost any movie verabtim. He especially loved Monty Python and we would often toss lines back and forth. On his last day, we were all sitting around just holding him... he nodded off, starting to fade, hospice care said time is near.... the room got quiet and my brother took a grasp... we held our breathe and my sister Mary says "oh wait I ain't dead yet..." We all tried not to giggle but thankfully, my brother had one last smile left in him and then was gone... leaving this earth doesn't have to be sad.....

My step-father dies of pancreatic cancer 8 years ago on Christmas eve. When diagnosed, he declined treatment and died within 6 months. It was a difficult decision but had friends that treatment extended their life by a few months, but the quality of life was not there. Definitely see hospice/palliative care. My mother found it invaluable, particularly toward the end. It is very difficult. In the remaining time, enjoy, reflect, and assist with writing a journal that ultimately becomes part of her legacy.

Thinking of you and wishing you the best.

Mango, the only thing I can say, besides "My condolences to you and your family", is that at least it was relatively fast.....a small mercy. I hope her passing was painless and remember, she's not sick or in pain any more, and as long as someone is here to remember her, then she still has an existence. Remember the best of her, and you keep the best of her in your world to share.

Hey MP, Im sure your mom wouldn't want you or anyone else draggin' around like a wet mop. Be the strong woman we all know you to be! Keep on keepin' on sweet thing!

Pam - I KNOW I would have liked your brother! and your sis too! To have the strength to bring laughter, giggles, and a smile to death is a power reserved for the Gods! She sounds truly awesome!

I'm glad you were able to be there when she passed. I wasn't when my Mom passed away years ago. I made sure I was when my Dad did. I know how important it is.

As others have said remember the good times, the funny times and keep them with you. Many blessings.

Thanks... I miss him - he died really young (age 50) and had alot more he needed to do with his life...he was just getting started after having a few bad years early on. Humor has always been our bond. He was the funniest man ever!
