Help us win a new lawn.

My wife entered our dog in a contest for the cutest dog in Helena. Cash and prizes in the amount of $3000.00. I know. Crazy amount for a dog contest in the small town of Helena.
One of the prizes is a lawn makeover from Nitro Green. I have been trying to get rid of the weeds for 3 years now and have just been hurting the grass. It would be nice to win.

It would be nice to win. Sammy, our dog, won the first match up.
The contest is called Mutt Madness. It is bracketed like the NCAA tournament. This match up is pretty close right now.

My wife and I would really appreciate it if you would help us out and vote for Sammy.
He is a Welsh Terrier/Chihuahua cross that came out of a CA rescue shelter.

Click on the link, scroll down to Sammy's picture, click on his pic and write his name in the comments.

Thank you.

I used to be proud to have 6 kinds of native grasses in my front lawn. They were all well adapted to the desert climate and much lower-maintenance than the green monoculture that most people had in front of their house. Some people went crazy and even mowed diamond patterns onto their front lawns and scalped their lawns every winter, just like the golf courses did.

We also had snails, the only people on the block with them. That was also the reason that we were the only people on the block with a roadrunner nest on the roof. Roadrunners love them snails.

Did you also have a problem with a certain coyote?

Nah, One time though, I took one of the dogs for a walk up into the hills nearby. We stopped to rest at a point that over looked a golf course. I sat down and the dog hopped into my lap.

A few moments later, I saw a coyote coming up the path from the golf course. When she got up to where we were, I could see that she was pretty emaciated. She was just a few feet away. I held my breath, fearing that my dog, who's usual tactic with strange canines is to attack would go bonkers. But for some reason, he remained quiet. The coyote passed on and headed up another trail. It was a cool moment.
