I officially quit this am. I miss the sugar already black coffee sucks but that's what im drinking and water

I drastically reduce my sugar intake about a year ago ... no pop in the house, etc. In a few weeks, you'd be amazed at how overly-sweet pop drinks taste.

A woman I work with drinks only diet soda. She said she can't put enough sugar on food/drinks to make them sweet enough. In other words, she can OD on sugar because it isn't sweet enough for her. Good reason to stay the heck away from diet soda.

I switched over to Zevia sodas a few years ago. Very satisfying, made with stevia.

I use a lot of club soda. I'll mix in a splash of cranberry juice or lemon.

I also brew iced tea and sweeten it lightly when it's warm.

There's still some sugar but nothing like canned soda

I guess everyone has their own junk food weakness. I didn't have much problem giving up soft drinks, my biggest weakness is starchy sugary or salty snacks.

If cutting back cold turkey works for you, then ok. I gradually cut back. Haven't been a regular soda/pop drinker for over a decade. Also cut back with coffee. Used to use half n half and two sugar cubes/cup. I'm now down to one cube and no cream. Must be an age thing.

Depending on your reason for cutting that much out: a teaspoon of sugar is only about 4.2 grams, and soda is about 39 grams [ref: How Much Sugar in Sodas and Beverages?]so the same 12 oz of coffee with sugar and creamer isn't so bad. I drink that all the time and cannot handle soda any more at all. Bleh. Pretty soon you will turn into a coffee snob though as your taste refines, especially if you are drinking it black, so be careful. I'm pretty sure there are the '41 (ya I know, 42 :notamused:) equivalent coffee forums out there for you somewhere...

Addendum: I also drink filtered water, sometimes with a touch of lemon or lime juice for change.

Sweet coffee-with milk or cream-is one of life's pleasures.(with caffeine of course forget caffeine free coffee -need my drug)
I like sweet-
coffee syrup-in milk-good too-
I think folks in MASS are big on that-and I can see why-great stuff!

I cut way back about 3 years ago. My wife decided we should go on diets, I figured there were a lot of calories in soft drinks so I just reduced how many I would drink. Before that I would drink 2 or 3 per day while at work. Then I started drinking water or tea at lunch, and nothing else during the day. Since I cut back voluntarily I didn't have a problem if I drank a soda occasionally so I would drink them whenever I wanted, which is usually 1 or 2 per week.

I refuse to drink diet drinks because I can't stand the taste. I figure if I'm not going to drink a soda in order to cut out the calories, I'll just drink water or tea.

A former navy buddy used to intentionally shake salt in the grounds. This is navy coffee we're talking about. I wasn't much of a coffee connoisseur then, so it didn't matter to me.

Pretty much gave it up 14 years ago when I weighed 272, now I weigh 210 (of course it took more than this to drop the weight). I drink unsweetened iced tea. Occasionally I'll have a few sips of real Coke or root beer - good, but now they are way too sweet for my taste. I don't like the diet stuff and diet coke made me feel very strange. Good luck!

Seltzer or Sparkling water is a good alternative. Not Club Soda, that has salt in it.

My current favorite is ice cold water. I pour filtered water into a water box and then stick it into the freezer until it just begins to freeze. Then move it to the refrigerator and enjoy.

I rarely drink soda of any kind, water, coffee, and tea (no sugar) as well as my wife's nightly cocktail of lemon juice, cream of tartar, mineral salts and just a little stevia is about as sweet as it gets.

I eat fruit but won't drink it in juices... it causes a carb overload since a glass of orange juice is like eating 3-6 oranges at once without the fibre.

On a low carb way of eating (it is not a diet) we have found that things you never thought were sweet are much sweeter tasting... your taste buds get pretty numb when they are constantly exposed to sugar.

Now a little raw coconut tastes plenty sweet.

I have drank my coffee black for longer than I can remember. You get used to what you drink day to day, but when you get a very good or a very bad cup of coffee, you know it. It kills me when somebody get a drink at Starbucks, with more additives than coffee, then raves about how good the coffee is!
