US people - tomorrow is April 15

Will you be standing in line at the post office to get your tax return in, or did you already file?

I always file early in February. I got a nice bike repair stand with my refund this year.

Did my own taxes a couple months ago. I only got a couple hundred back. Used to to pay off my credit card for the month.

You non-US people, don't be alarmed. It will be April 15 for you too.

I thought this was going to be about Google Glass....

One benefit of having a one figure income last year is that I don't have to file.

Maybe someone should use their tax refund to buy Google Glass for MP as a birthday present.

I submitted my forms and payment online Apr 3 and the IRS collected the funds on Apr 4. Pretty efficient. Last year I was due a refund and my bank received it just a few days after I submitted the forms online. The only hassle with online submission is that W-2s and 1099 forms have to retyped on-line, copies of the original forms can't be submitted as attachments.

I'd rather be writing a check on 4/14 every year than getting a refund. Getting a refund means I have lost use of my money throughout the year and someone else has had use of it.

True true. But it sure was nice this year having that "bike escrow" $$$.

TurboTax did mine back in February. Still haven't decided what to do with the refund.

I like to overpay a little every quarter with my estimated payments and overpayment is always carried over for the following year. As far as actual filing I usually file extensions and file during the summer using Turbotax.

In Finland, we don't get no steenking refunds. All our taxes are belong to the state.

On the bright side, it's almost April 15th here already. And I'm not really complaining about taxes either.

Same here. Sent federal and state in halfway through February and got the check the end of February. Sat on it for a few days because of sub zero weather and promptly ran to the bike shop on the first day above 20 which I think was March 1st. Picked my new Giant Escape 1 up on March 6th and ran up to the bike trail. 6 inches of ice and snow still so I figured I'd run around town a bit. At 22, that certainly wasn't for me and I rode around the block, packed up, and went home. Sat in the garage for a good while until we had a 45 and I could ride.

Just filed local taxes yesterday.

We have so many loop holes and credits here that most people way overpay for federal tax and then apply all the credits and get refunds. Examples of the credits are living in a McMansion and being able to deduct your interest (can't do this if you live in a normal house.) Send you kid off to someone else to raise while both parents work and get a credit for the amount you pay in child care (my wife stays home to raise our kids so we pay the tax for those who don't take care of theirs and work and get the credits.) Spend $25-30,000 on a hybrid car to get a $7,000 tax credit. Those are just a few...

Did my taxes Saturday. Haven't decided what to get with the refund yet. Maybe, I'll get a new bike or upgrade my phone, or get a good gaming computer.

Same here with loopholes. I try to aim close to balance in my advance payments, as paying extra is just me giving a low interest loan to the man. Paying too little in advance would be preferrable, but anything close to balance either way is good enough for me.
