Sardines have come a long way.

They now make sardines in mustard sauce and dill. Oh God. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. And the ones in oil and jalapeno pepper slices are almost as good. And lemon sauce....
I got the lemon sauce sardines in Nashville. And the jalapeno ones, too. They don't sell them around here.
I wonder if there are any other good ones out there that I don't know about.
Sardines rule!

Do the cans have the pull tab to open? Should fit right in a jersey pocket for a mid ride snack.

I get a hankering for sardines once in a blue moon but I'm always up for kippered herring.

I'm going to have the house to myself this weekend and I'm thinking I'll get wild and crazy and fix a pizza with anchovies...

I just got some in hot sauce,,, pretty tasty. But the best part about eating sardines is grossing my kids out.

Sardines in lemon sauce

Sardines in olive oil and jalapeno or chili pepper

The internets is cool. Thanks for the tip. I used to carry sardines and crackers around all the time while working outside in construction.....My little emergency pack. Canned Oysters too. I'll have to try both of these.

I've been getting mine at Walmart and Kmart for no more than $1/can.

I like the hot sauce ones. They aren't like the used to be. Up until about 10 years or so ago, a can of sardines had 10 to 12 small sardines. Nowadays, they have two or three big ones, sometime pieces of a big one...

Still like them though.

I love herring, kippered, wine sauce, sour cream,,, any way. Anchovies in salad or on pizza. Not too fond of sardines.
