Well I am screwed..academically that is...

Well reality has finally set in on me...I should have payed attention during 7th and 8th grade. You see I got all F's last year exept for P.E. So now 9th grade has rolled around and they said I have to pass this year (impossible for me) and they say they'll let me go into high school. So I just got a report card yesterday...all...frickin...F's...what the f**K?!?! I tried as hard as I could and I STILL got a frickin' F average?! THAT AIN'T RIGHT!!! So the tyrant dictator a**hole ****** that run my school say I now have to go to summer school! and my mom says this and I quote VERBATIM!!! "I am not letting you go to summer school, it costs me money and if you get held back thats better for me..I'll have my son for another year".... Oh dear god....anyways I just thought I'd post that here... and please don't hector me on how irresponsible I am, I know I am irresponsible and I don't care anymore.

Honestly.... and I say this with the utmost care.. how much did you study and were you really studying or watching tv/listening to music/chatting on im studying?

Cause the educational system is next to a joke. I passed all my usual required classes all the way up to 11th grade w/o trying much. As long as I did the homework and put a little effort into reading the text book or looking at my notes, it was pretty easy. It's when I got into 12th grade where I started taking college level courses that things went down hill. And even then, I managed to fake my way though engineering school and get a 4 year degree on nothing more than doing the required homework everyday, didn't even study much.

I'm surprised people are having such a hard time with school now that bush put his "No child left behind" thing in place. I mean, they're designing the system so it's easy to pass. When I was your age, which was oh about a decade or so ago, I just couldn't imagine anyone actually failing a class unless they worked at it. I mean, I knew friends who were smart and just purposely didn't give a damn and they still managed to leech enough off sleeping in class to get C's and D's in class.

You either really really messed up in all your pre-req's or there is something seriously wrong with the school. You didn't piss any of the administration off did you?

slvoid, did you "just pass" as in you got a C/D, or did you get an A/B.

And school is much harder now IMO. Theres so much pressure to do good and take a bunch of AP/Honors classes to get into prestigious colleges.

Right now I'm in 10th grade. You say you didn't take any college level courses(i.e. Ap classes) until 12th grade? Well, now most of my friends are taking atleast 1 AP class if not 2 or three.

MetalHead, like Lauren said, no shame in having to study an extra year. I'm usually a good student but when I took spanish 3/4 I completely BOMBED the class. I mean I got like a 30 something percent. I just didn't get it. I had to take it again in summer school.

Sorry for double posting...but no those damn dictators gave me an F...exept for Mr.Thach, he rules, anyway...there is horrible shame for repeating the ****in 9th grade, its embarrassing. I mean all my freinds go off to high school and I stay back at my crappy school and study with all new 9th graders, then they cash in at my expense therefor my ultimate embarrasment. I would rather be shot then repeat the 9th grade...

forum_rider your in 10th grade? wow, i must have missed your introduction. i thought you were just one of the adults.

A/B. I went to a magnet school around here and manged to pass 4th year french w/o speaking more than 2 whole coherent sentences in french. I got C/D's in classes where I did absolutely jack nothing other than hand in half my homework and passed tests based on figuring out the material during the test. If "most" of your friends are taking 2-3 AP classes per semester at 10th grade, you're either overzealous, lying, or you'll be entering college as a sophmore student, in which case congratulations, you're smarter than 99% of public school students who usually enter as freshmen.

Exactly, you people have no idea how umbelievably dumb I am and I still got a C in some of the classes that I literally slept through. And believe me, I can be extremely dumb at times, dumber than you can dare imagine.

My thoughts exactly dude! How the hell does one fail when one aces all of his tests?! I mean its bullcrap. I should have at LEAST earned myself a C-. I don't do my homework because I feel like school is running my life...I do what I feel is right. Great example.

I was sick for like 3 days and missed 2 assignments in science. So my frickin teacher takes the C+ I had 5 days ago and turns it into an F..just in time for report cards...screw this school and its crappy teachers.

You need to talk to the school.
By definition, you should be an average student (based on the public school kids I see in the city here).
BTW, you're probably just hitting puberty, so every emotion you experience will probably seem 2-3x as intense to you. I wouldn't stress over it, it's just 1 year.

BTW Rowan, I blame the style of the posts on puberty.
Believe me, I talked that way when I was a kid too. You don't realize how weird it is till you grow up and you're like, holy cow, thats how I talk?

I challenge your stupidity to mine. You have no frickin idea how stupid I can be...I won't even go into detail.

Puberty didn't really affect my mind, I just really don't care about most things, other then those that pertain to me that is. I do talk at school about this and they just say "well study harder" or "well it looks like you need study more" WHEN IN REALITY I DO STUDY!!!!

No wonder my friends who were 28-29 in college were so much better students than the younger kids fresh out of high school. Hell, if I went back now, I know I'll be a lot more responsible.

slvoid, I'm not lying. About 2/3 of my friends are already in Calculus AB(first year) and taking AP European Civilization or Honors/AP humanities. I'm only taking one AP class per a year, trying to budget it out. My cousin entered as a sophmore and he got messed up. Something about him needing to take a class but it was only offered to freshmen. I forgot, would have to ask him.

At Westview we have a funky schedule. We only have 4 classes a semester, but one semester of a class counts as 1 year. Kind of confusing trying to explain. In theory since we have 4 classes instead of 8 we should be able to double the workload for those classes.

slvoid, you're comment on puberty is reminding me on how much puberty affects people(me included). Theres a girl in my AP Bio class I like and one day I'll be thinking "hmm, she's nice, I wish I could ask her out"(she has a boyfriend). And the next day my brain is going "I'm going to DIE if I don't don't go out with her!" wahh wahh(I don't actually cry, just emphasizing the way I feel). it would actually be kind of interesting if it wasn't so damn destracting.

And yes, ChAnMaN, I'm in 10th grade. I'm glad atleast someone thinks I'm mature You should see me in photo lol

Then getting assingned a project and working on that every

thats sort of true but now days many colleges are looking at your standerized test grades more then your actual ones. Every sence "no child left behind" all we do in school is prepare for standerized tests, take standerized tests and repeat. ACT, SAT, ISAT, PSAT, IOWA......the most important skill you can have is knowing how to bubble a scan card.

Oh man, my class was the first class provided with laptops and wi-fi.
I spent all but 2 weeks of comp. programming class playing unreal online with that nipple on my ibm laptop. I could still remember the blisters...

Anyways, one of the most disturbing things I've found is, kids nowadays think school is useless when it's not even the beginning of the process. School is just to prep you with the BACKGROUND you need to do your work. College gives you a glimpse at what you'll need to know. Then about 90% of what you need in order to do a good job comes from actually doing it and gaining experience. If kids can't even get grade school right, I can't see how these kids can get through college, let alone grow up to take on a position in like aerospace, civil engineering, or anything else where people's lives depend on your work.

Heh, the most important skill in bubbing in the card is to swipe it over with a tube of chapstick.

I skipped a whoel semesters worth of stuff my last year in high school and stayed up 3 straight days, that's 72 straight hours, and passed all my midterms with semi-flying colors. Well worth it for slacking off an entire semster. I think I averaged around 4 hours of sleep everyday for the first 3 years I was in college. Don't worry, you'll get used to it plus learn to switch over from coke to jolt.

Sounds like to me you gotta get your homework done, study harder, if your having trouble with your classes see the teacher and get some help after class if not get a tutor. I am currently a freshman in college I went through the painful four years of high school, and they arn't fun. If you work hard, pay attention in class, get your work done you'll do fine.
