Should I be concerned?

Some of you might be aware of my ongoing saga with my drunk next door neighbor and his insistence to drink with his buddies in his front yard which is basically my front yard since we have adjoining townhouses.

Perhaps I am being a busy body but I have been noticing something awfully odd going on with his next door neighbor. I am not sure who even lives there because I see a lot of different people coming and going all of the time. A lot of them young women. My real estate agent who has only been here a few times even remarked at the number of different people going into the place.

The one person that lives there has gray hair and appears to be in his late forties to early fifties. Not a George Clooney look alike by any means. I have seen him with a number of very young attractive women. The one today couldn't be more than 18 and was HOT.

Add this fairly average older guys success with young attractive women to the number of people that come and go out of the place and it just looks odd.

Am I just jealous or should I be concerned with what appears to be going on in my neighborhood?

That is my concern. But I am thinking drugs. Unless this guy has really big bucks to spend he is spending an awful a lot of time with them with nothing going on.

I just can't figure why a young hot woman would be spending time with an older guy. Perhaps he just looks older because of his gray hair? I really have not seen him that up close but even without the gray hair he does appear to be a lot older these girls.

I have seen another male that I think is is roommate. I have seen them together and there appears to be a huge age difference between them. Again very odd.

I did contact our management company to see if he can shed any light as to who is actually living there.

Unless they're physically bothering you in terms of loud noise, property damage, or illegal activities that may increase your risk for harm, I suggest minding your own business. No one likes a nosy neighbor especially when they're not doing anything illegal.

I'll go along with this. It's probably best to just stay out of it. I also agree with the hookers and/or blow theory. Having said this...

There is some kind of weird sub-culture that is growing in this country. It consists of grown men, in their 30s to 50s, who are all divorced, and live together in the home
of one who has managed to hang onto his house. (better lawyer than the ex-wife) The thing is that these grown men, all want to live like they are back in frat house. Somehow, they are able to attract and pickup young women. How does this work? I have no idea.

Spinaker, do any of the young women you've mentioned appear to be under age? This can be hard to tell, in this age where 17 year olds
are able to pass for early 20s. Are you also lots of vehicles with out of state plates around? These characters seem to have some kind of underground
network thing going on.

Re-iterate: Probably best to watch it, but stay out of it, unless you know that something illegal and potentially dangerous is going on.

You could pose as a pizza delivery guy. I see it going down in one of three ways...

You deliver the pizza and...

1) No illegal activity is evident
2) It's a meth lab
3) He's a pornographer and you just walked in as the "pizza delivery guy", have fun.

I have not heard of this. Could be that is all that is going on. If this old dude is somehow attracting young hot women using legal methods then I am jealous!

No, no one at least appears to be under age but as you said it is hard to tell these days.

No I will not get involved. I will watch it and if I do see something that looks fairly obvious it is illegal (bag of white powder being passed etc.) then I will call the police.

I will have to keep a watch for plate numbers when I see a lot of different people there to see if it is anyone out of state.

We have had problems with drugs here before but those people were renters. We worked with the owners to boot the people out. I do not think these people are renters.

I think they would probably recognize me. On the other hand, I could wear a big fake mustache. That could add to my role in your #3 .

I'm not suggesting to ignore it. Just keep an eye on it. I'm only suggesting to not assume because when you incorrectly accuse (based on assumptions), you'll be the bad guy at the end of the day. If you're curious to the point where you want to find out what's going on, whenever your neighbor has his parties that extends to your adjacent front yard, causally go out there and be friendly with the guy. Maybe he'll invite you to join him. When that happens you should get a good feel of what's exactly is going on instead of assuming.

I'd be concerned. This situation is not sustainable.

It sounds like there are too many people, and partying in the front yard is pretty much trash.

I'm not sure what you should do to deal with it. An anchor fence might be the answer, or mark your property line with some yellow fluid.

Pick up a six pack of hookers and blow and go join in the fun. Or tip off the cops to the possible cocaine and prostitution ring next door.

Coin tosses are there for a reason.

As a mid 50's guy who's been divorced for 15 years I can't say I've heard of this before, and think I'm OK with missing out on the whole idea.

Asking him how he manages to attract so many attractive young women along the lines of "what's your secret" might be interesting though, have you tried that?

Turns out the facts are even stranger than conjecture. The older guy is dad and he has been living with his daughter and son in law. Partying down with the two of them and their friends. Looks like he might be dating his daughters friends the girls he brings home certainly are young enough maybe even younger). I know I would be really freaked out if I was a young dude and my father inlaw wanted to live with us and he was fairly young and heathy. Likewise freaked out if I was a young woman and dad was dating my friends. Totally freaky but from the looks of it so far nothing illegal seems to be going on and that was my only concern.

We are not allowed fences in the front yard. Besides it really doesn't solve the problem of my own privacy as they can see me come and go all of the time. But it also does not solve the most important issue and that is people partying in the front of their townhouse unit are trash and soon the neighborhood will be perceived as trash and property values will suffer.

Sounds like when my father in law walked in on us watching porn and said, "hey kids, move over!".

Probably blow. Classic traffic at the house scenario. He might as well hang out a sign that says windchaser's neighbors cocaine den.
