What's your bait for Stripers?

Going to be hitting a tidal river tomorrow, I love the taste of Striped Bass but I've hardly ever had luck catching them... Sardines are about all that's ever worked for me, so what works for you guys? If it helps your advice any I should be getting there about an hour before high tide and sticking around till the median between high/low tides.

8-10wt so you can chunk the large flies, and a good drag on your reel. YouTube Henry Cowen for some good Lanier stripers on the fly videos.

That 8wt I have has pulled in a handful of 20lbs carp out of Varner.

In Texas, we troll for striped bass. I used a surf casting rod and a mambo bait casting reel, as those fish get big. We would Heddon Magnum Hell Benders with a big jig as a trailer.

We'll see about pics.. the skunk charm is going on this outing >.<
Reading the responses is making me jealous too, a 23" or 24" where I'm going is an "Amazing" catch. There may be batrays too! So I'm going to try and get in as much as I possibly can.
