Updating for anyone who maybe interested.
Still not sure what I did, but the RICE seems to have done the trick. I was able to do my normal daily walk of just over 2 miles on Tuesday at a 2.4 mph pace and then 3.2 mph pace the next day (my normal is 3.5-3.9, depending). I can now bend the knee with ease, though there is still slight twinges of pain from time to time, but only when the joint is stressed in a certain way. I have made a trip up to the store (0.6 mile r/t) without my brace on once, but think I will continue to use the brace "just in case" for longer distances for a while.
