Jaguar Motors gets into the cycling business...

Jaguar shifts focus from four to two wheels with Tour de France bike

Mildly amusing. I seem to remember Harley Davidson selling a bicycle some years back. It was a cruiser style,
with an internal hub gear. I think it was made for them by GT cycles, as "an officially licensed product". Since
Google is our friend, here is a pic.

Mercedes offered bikes a few years back. Seems to mostly be a marketing gimmick. Remember
Trek's association with VW? Not a bad thing at all. Odd, but not bad.

Jag isn't building bikes. They just let Pinarello use their "technology"....whatever that means.

The were given "access to its (Jag) aerodynamics expertise and facilities". Sounds like 100% pure marketing hype.

Not much different to the Lamborghini BMC Impec or Ferrari Colnago, how they are doing it sound like Specialized did with the S-Works Mclaren Venge back in 2013, at the end of it, it's just a marketing tie in to sell more cars.

Once upon a time closer to the beginning of the last century Harley made tons of bicycles!

Jag-you-ahhr...or as most say it in America, Jag-wire.

Sounds like they may have used wind tunnel time paid for by jaguar in exchange for both of them getting some publicity.

RPK79 06-02-14 08:05 AM

If I was a British Super-Villain this is the bike I would ride.

Cyclosaurus 06-02-14 08:06 AM

Makes sense. Jaguars spend more time in the repair shop than on the road anyway so their drivers need an alternate form of transportation.

Nice! If Jag is helping Pinarello build bikes, this guy is going to be busy.

Hummer "made" an entire series of bikes.

The last one was made by Joe Breeze and sold as an "Itzy" in the early 2000s. I still own and occasionally ride my Itzy.

Lets not forget the BMW M3 road bike. Unlike the Jag/Pinarello thing, BMW actually designed this on their own. I want one badly.

Not sure if they sold outside of Canada, but VW Canada was selling a Trek edition Jetta that came with a bike, not sure if it came with roof racks or not. Don't think that gimmick lasted more than a year or two. Not a great bike or so I've heard.
