Contacting children about a property of a deceased parent?
I was out with my real estate agent the other day and we just happened to turn down this street to turn around. There it was. My dream home. Ranch home, TONS of privacy on a wooded lot, only a mile from where I currently live and the area where I want to stay.
So I checked into ownership of the house figuring I would send them a letter. What is the worse that can happen?
Turns out the home is in a trust. Mom died in 2008 and Dad died just last year in September.
My question: Is it appropriate to contact the daughter (the trustee) about the house? Has enough time passed? I of course will express my sincere condolences. If folks think it is OK, anything else I might say? I was thinking that I will be sure to give it the love that both her parents put into the place, something like that.
