Apple iPad Mini - $199 Target.com

I sold my Google Nexus 2013 7 Tablet last week because everything else I have is Apple based and switching back and forth, well I'm too old for that.

Today you can get the iPad Mini for $100 off, via Target ship to store. I know the wags will say, "give them my cc number? Never." The security problem was with in store POS terminals.

In any event, I bought an iPad Mini this morning to replace the Nexus. Perfect for use in my workshop or where taking the iPad Air is too risky, like in my pannier.

Thanks for the heads up, too bad it's not a model with the retina display. It's just too hard to go backwards.

I agree, I love being able to see rusty cables and paint defects with the high resolution screen.

In any event, I have about 5 weeks of travel planned this summer, which involves planes, automobiles, and offshore yachts, but no trains. If I were to break my iPad Air, I would be devastated, not so with a $200 tablet, which I could probably resell for my purchase price.

I don't know, it seems silly having two iPads. If you break your iPad Air it's only $100 more than the replacement cost of this iPad Mini (on temp price cut), so I'd rather just use the better iPad Air and not mess around with having so many devices. Besides they are pretty robust, especially with a case on them.

Reserved a few on line and picked them up in the store. I was surprised that my local store even had them in stock - they usually don't have sale items.

The full size iPad Air is still $419 for a refurbished unit at apple.com. The iPad Mini Retina display seems less contrasty and dull compared to it. Ergo, the $199 iPad Mini. As I sold the Nexus for $150, about $20 less than I paid for it in January, the $50 up charge is fairly nominal.

OR you save the $150, add the $200 you just spent and you've got $350 to put towards a new ipad air if you break it. One device, better screen and you'd only be out of pocket $65.

Very attractive price. I like the size of my ipad2 so I don't think I would like the smaller screen, but I recognize that the smaller size would be better for some people. I can carry the larger model in my briefcase easily, but the smaller one would fit better in a purse, backpack, camera bag. I like the retina display on my iphone, I don't mind the lesser pixel density of the ipad2.

What's a flip phone?

Kids react to technology

"--How do you make a call with this phone?"
"--What's the very first thing you have to do to use that phone?"
It's called a 'dial tone' "Oh, I've heard of that!"
...
"--So, how do you send a text message with that phone?"

"--What's the last time you used a pay phone?" "I never heard of that."

Compaq Portable (heh)

Two 5.25 floppys. No hard drive. 28 pounds.
$3500.00 in 1983.

That's $8300 in 2014 dollars.

The faster processor was the more appealing bell for me...posting from an A7-equipped mini. Still, I can relate to the cost/risk factor. I probably won't take it on a tour.
