I can't believe it...FINALLY a nice morning here in New Jersey. One that was not too cold or wet....soooooo I wake up at 5:45 (had to be here at work at 8AM) get out of the shower, start to get dressed...and the girlfriend is feeling "naughty." So do I get undressed and let her have it? NOOOOOOOO...I put on the helmet, shoes and off I go for a quick 10 miles. I know it was only 10 miles but the weather here has been so lousy that I just couldn't waste a morning like this. Afterall tomorow they are calling for T-storms and flood warnings here in New Jersey. It's official, I am hopeless now.

She will forgive me, right?....RIGHT?!?!?

I guess you have your priorities in order...
Let me ask you this: was the GF still feeling naughty when you returned from your ride?
You run the risk of your GF considering your bike to be your mistress, and reacting to you accordingly.

Riding a new bike or having sex with a new partner?
Old bike or regular partner?
New bike or regular partner? Vice versa?

Hmmmmm....

I choose riding the partner.

Reminds me of something that happened last week. I ride 35 miles every Saturday morning at 8 a.m. sharp, no matter what. Well, last Saturday, a cold, steady rain was falling, but I did my usual thing--for about two miles and decided to turn around. It was just too nasty out.

My wife had her back to me as I slpped back into bed and whispered to her, "God, the weather outside is awful."

"Yeah," she mumbled sleepily, "and that idiot husband of mine is out there riding his bicycle in it."

When you're married like me it goes more like this:

- wake up early
- test the waters
- answer = no
- F*** it, I'm going riding

Dude your priorities are in the wrong order. There will be hundreds of days when you can go out and get a quick ride. If she wakes up feeling naughty take care of business with her and ride later or another time.

Sex can lead to kids.... and kids kill ride time. At least for the first year or so... then its trailer time. After that its family time.. Tandem + piccolo + trailer = train of fun..hehe..

Zack..Priorities..Generally yes..I agree..But you can get your yahoos in the rain, but cycling for many of us no...Depends on how long the bike draught vs. the lack of Kn***** has existed..Had the bike draught gone on for weeks and it is the first sunny day- seems within limits one partner might understand...
If the woman were the bike deprived soul, bet there would be NO issue.

The reason I ride is because I HAVE a wife and kids.

I'd take care of the woman first. Heck, so what if my bike ride starts five minutes later

Same here.... My riding time is *MY* time... Although I'm sure alot of it will become OUR time in the next few years...which is fine. I just gotta save up the dough to get a tandem, cause I cannot stand to ride with my wife right now... It may be inconsiderate, but ugh... so slow... When we are pulling the kids around its one thing, but just the two of us... I can't handle it for long... I've heard alot of great things about tandems though...so we shall see..

I remember watching a couple on a tandem one day. She was yelling at him to downshift the gear one.

If the wife's needs aren't getting met at home, she can find someone else who will meet them. My theory is to make sure those needs get met so there's no need or desire to look elsewhere.

If the bike isn't being ridden enough, you can at least chain it down and you know it will be there next time you need it. The wife may or may not approve of the same approach. Then again, some people like that kind of thing

Sadly, the closest I've ever gotten to combining riding and sex was vicariously. I was trying to do my first century, and I was riding a course designed by a local club. I rode the metric century the day of their event, then rode the full 100 mile course solo on a later date. Any way, as I pulled in to a parking lot of a state park that had previously been a rest stop, I saw a car parked haphazzardly in the first parking space beyond the entrance. The car doors had been flung open, and there was a couple enjoying themselves in the grass right at the park entrance. I didn't hang around, but it gave me something to think about during the rest of the ride. You never know what you'll see on a ride.
