a completely off topic question re the FIFA World Cup Soccer

I've tried to find the the answer to this and figured someone here might know.

I'm watching the World Cup Soccer games and have a question regarding the advertising on the perimeter of the field (at ground level). Are those actual full size electronic panels or it is a blue or green screen like the weather reports on TV and the images are superimposed by computers?

Just curious ... thanks ...

I think its a lot of little lights computer controlled to change the image color /pattern.. green screen wouldn't reach the people in the stands so miss that market to sell to..

they're LCD/LED panels just like you see in regular sports stadiums. Think jumbotron, but smaller.

So Dave, as an Expat you root for US & NL equally? looks like NL 2, Chile 0 today , US--Portugal ties at 2 yesterday.

They only appear on the televised image, like the scrimmage line and yards to go line that show up on American football fields during game play.

having attended games in large scale fields like this, that's 100% false.

while i'd agree on the american football scrimmage and first down lines as being added (as well as the end board glass advertising in hockey), I can 100% say that they're large scale LED or lit displays.

I'm not very nationalistic when it comes to sports though I am very proud of how the Dutch deal with integrating bikes and cars.

I really don't follow soccer ... or any sports for that matter to include the Tour de France. I can appreciate the expertise but you would never see me in an actual stadium. I'm happy for the Dutch when they win and will be happy for the US if we win again but that's the extent of it.

I can see the whole array of White LED back lit LC Display pieces in a grid, since any close ups show a lot of round dots, which change colors ..

and run all the way around the field ..

When the players flop, are they being tripped by gremlins? I've wondered about that too...
