Here's Lou Reed's live version of Heroin with a great backing band, not the Velvet Underground. I think I remember hearing they were Alice Cooper's band on loan for Lou's solo tour. A great keyboard rush as promised. Pretty good for '73
I don't know if they were w/ AC before this as well as after, or just after, but Dick Wagner, one of the guitar players, passed away just the other day.

Thanks, good info. I don't know if you checked the 90's thread today but I messaged you about the new Rolling Stone having a feature on Johnny Winter FYI.

In spite of the band's name this is the newest drug song so far

Takes 35 posts for someone to mention.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds- The Beatles. The song was about LSD.

Mini The Moocher
or whatever the name of that song Cab Calloway sang/dance/performed
He Calloway was absolutely hypnotic-even on poor definition TV
His performances were sorta otherworldly-
Sooooo over the top somewhat gayish foppish exaggerated with his voice, band , moves
Yeah ODD but hypnotizing
and it isn't really much of a drug song-but it mentions cocaine and he mimics snorting it
Anyway it is worth a search
The Pusher- still the best

Snowblind Friend written by Hoyt Axton is the
"he said he wants heaven but praying was too slow...." song
a truly depressing drug song
-pretty much dead on right for full time on the street doper-depressing but rings true
