Need a little help from the ladies here....

So here's the deal; my wife decided a few months ago to go on a diet, and she's getting pretty close to her target weight after a lot of hard work. I'd like to do something unexpected to congratulate her, but I'd like some ideas about what to do. I don't really want to do something that draws attention just to the weight loss (although it's a considerable accomplishment), but something nice that she would enjoy as a reward for all the hard work. I'm looking for something in between a gift certificate to a day spa (done that already) and a Carribean cruise to model her new bikini (that would kick ass, but I don't have that kind of budget to work with). Thanks in advance for any ideas you can offer...

OK, I'm not one of the ladies, but I think that over the years I've practiced the art of being good to the one's in my life. So. look at this brother, I know you mentioned that you've done a spa in the past, but look at this. There is a Japanese spa located in the mountains just outside of Santa Fe New Mexico that would reward your sweetie in the ultimate of style. You would have to be there too, look at the exquisite rooms on the website. You could also slip away for some of the best road or mountain biking around while she is being pampered in royal fashion. It's close to Texas, wonderful cultural stuff in Santa Fe, and truely out of this world, explore the website, see what you think. http://www.tenthousandwaves.com/

What a great thing to do, way to go bro!
Those voices in your head aren't real, but they have some great ideas

How about a buying her a new bike, a tandem maybe so you can share your passion? Or a gift certificate for a house cleaning service for a month? Maybe a weekend at a bed and breakfast?

That is very sweet of you to want to congratulate her on something that she worked so hard on.

I would keep away from food as a gift.
Does she have a favorite hobbie or collection? If not, maybe take her on a romantic picnic or something(with Healthy food of course) like that. Just show her how much you are enjoying her new shape and I think she would be very happy..

Schedule an entire day around her. Take her someplace to get her nails done then a massage then take her shopping then a nice lunch/dinner complete with a Congratulations card

I had someone do something nice for me one time.
I never have forgotten it. He took me to a very nice spa in Vail, Colorado. He left me there and said enjoy. I had a seaweed wrap done and then a facial. He picked my up afterwards, told me to get ready, took me to this very nice restaurant in Vail, had flowers delievered to our table, bought a bottle of wine. It was wonderful. Like I said I will never forget it. If you don't want to do any of these things, then here are some ideas. If I was her and I'm not, I would want to go on a romantic picnic like mentioned above, having fun in the sun, relaxing, playing around, then later in the evening I would love to get dress in something sexy and just enjoy being with the man I love. But remember most girls love Romance!!! Yes, some girls don't but you know her best!!! Your awesome for thinking about her.
    Have fun.

Well, if she has a new bikini, pay for her to have a wax. Brazilian style.

I've thought about the bike idea and that's a possibility, and I like the B&B idea as well. The house cleaning idea would be cool except that I do most of the cleaning...

Dude, try some combinations from these things, see what you come up with! Let's see where IHOP and waxing pop up.

    OOOOUUUUUCHHHH!!!

    That's not a gift!

I have no good suggestions. I'm a loser when it comes to understanding romance. Actually, wait, are there any hot springs places near where you are? There are lots of different ones out here where you can get private pools and stuff like that. Then she can wear a new bikini (if she wants ), and they usually even have a spa sort of thing there where you could both get massages if you want. Much cheaper than a cruise, and you can both enjoy it. Maybe I'm not the romantic loser my b/f recently accused me of being...

Attention: women NEVER tire of spa treatments!

Instead of getting her a gift certificate, call up the spa (either her favorite or one she's been dying to go to), talk to the manager and have them help you plan the whole experience for your wife (scrubs, wraps, massages, waxings, pedicures - YUM!). That way, she'll be whisked away to spa-land like the princess she is knowing that you helped plan the whole experience. Afterwards, take her shopping somewhere special where she can try on outfits she's always wanted to indulge in, but never had the chance to show off. Later on take her to a fancy dinner.....wine, Belgian beer....whatever. Cap it with a bunch of flowers and you're up for husband of the year. If you need more suggestions, I'm sure Oprah.com probably has a ton.

Just given your thoughtfulness she's a lucky lady!

Why is that? I mean specifically. I know it's "royal treatment" and all, but what about pedicures and facials is better than servants feeding you grapes and pomengranites or other forms of royal treatment? (the insight could be useful in the future)
