Have any of you sold an iPhone?

Only AFTER upgrading my daughters phone and paying for a bunch of other stuff at the AT&T store was I told that they would give me a $300 in-store credit for her current iPhone 5s. Since I didn't want to sit on a $300 store card that I'd forget about and lose, I started looking online at companies claiming they will pay you cash for your phones.

Does anybody have any experience with these companies? I don't want to get into a situation where I send the phone and then they say "Not worth as much as we thought...here's $50".

    Can't say that I have. But I wouldn't wish my 4s 3g on a third world country.

Well... When I got my 5s a co-worker expressed interest in my old phone; so I gave it to her instead of selling it back to Verizon. It turned out her carrier couldn't use my phone (Verizon to AT&T). I hung onto it for a week or two until I decided to sell my phone back to Verizon- it was supposed to be for a $100 account credit. I got home after getting rid of it- and my wife told me our daughter's boyfriend needed a new phone- and it really bummed me out because he had to shell out for a phone and mine was a 4s in REALLY nice shape.

    Short story long...

Verizon LOST my phone, and they wouldn't credit my account. So not only was I bummed about selling the phone when it could have been put to good use- but I also didn't get the money.

The guy at the local Verizon store who accepted my phone totally remembered me turning it in- the local store managers were really cool about it- went up to bat for me... it took a few months, but they got me $200.

Doesn't answer your question in the least. But it's my long, drawn out, pointless story.

If the phone is off-contract, call ATT (or go online) and request to get it unlocked. You will get instructions on how to do this, it is done through I-tunes. Once unlocked, put it for sale on Ebay. I did this for my daughter's old 4s and at the time (last month) they would guarantee the phone would sell at the trending price ($162 at the time) and if not they would give you a gift card for the difference. Sure enough, the phone sold for $138 and I got a gift card for $24, though it was only good for about 2 weeks.

Why not if you can apply the store credit to your monthly bills? Selling phones on ebay has some risks even if you do everything right.

That's a good thought...it would be a no brainer if they let me do that.
