I got Floyd Jr with a $20 bet already. Fast righthand leads and counters will be southpaw Pacquiao's undoing.

And it's about time they finally signed this fight.

Fight? There's going to be a fight?
You can further the brotherhood of man by eliminating class.
You can lift the wage earner up by equalizing earnings.
You can bring about prosperity by overturning the holders of power.
You can strengthen the weak by eating the the strong.
You can help the poor by destroying the rich.

I'd go with manny if it were my emotions picking. Floyd if it were my brains. The guy is just nearly impossible to pick apart & hit. That said. Both guys will train harder than they ever have. Should be a great fight.

Freddie Roach said Manny is on a religious mission to defeat Mayweather who he sees as a bad example and does not just want to beat him, he wants to knock him out and make this decisive.

Mayweather said Manny is just another fighter to him and that his record does not matter... it should matter that Manny is really good at knocking people out and can keep the hammer down for a full 12 rounds, and he is relentless. It should be an incredible fight unless one of them slips up and goes down early.

Roach said that they have already taken Mayweather out of his comfort zone by getting him to agree to this fight which he has been ducking for years... if one was so confident in their abilities why would they keep dodging someone they say they can beat ?

It is going to be a great fight and I would actually pay to see this one...

First - If it goes the full 10(12?) rounds both these old geezers are going to be staggering around the ring.

I'd pick Floyd Mayweather - better overall boxer on both offense and defense. Manny's only going to win if he can find a moment where Floyd makes a mistake and he's able to knock him out by a true KO or TKO(not likely for either); he's just not the boxer he used to be.
    Are we having fun yet?

I imagine it's more of a case of wanting to save the most anticipated for nearly the last. I believe that Floyd has only one or two more fights left in his 6 fight Showtime contract after this one. Floyd always eventually gets around to the fights that people want to see whether it's Cotto, Mosley or Pacquiao.

I don't know what the points of contention were in signing this fight.....The gate split, doping controls, venue, make of gloves or whatever but one thing about Floyd is that he is as much a control freak about the business end of boxing as he is inside the ring. As crazy as his family seems sometimes they are very shrewd about the business of boxing in a sport with a long history of taking advantage of fighters where it can be taken.

I hope the fight lives up to the hype. I always split those expensive PPV costs with some buddies for a bring beer get together.

Another thing about Floyd is that he's never gone into a fight without being in total condition no matter the opponent. So many great talents have had their records marred by not being ready for the quality of some of their opponents (Muhammad Ali comes to mind) but not this one. He's not going to be the guy who balloons up in weight between fights or takes a fight on short notice. He's a total gym rat who even trained during his year layoff for hand fractures to heal after the Hatton fight. And when he came back he looked as if he hadn't lost a day.

I think the fight will live up to expectations. Neither are quick to knock out opponents. Both have great ring endurance. I think there is only 1 real question. Can manny find Floyd's chin or do what no one else has done & break down his defense. Manny is quick. How quick? We'll find out.

True fight fans will remember the first Sugar Ray Leonard vs Roberto Duran fight. This fight shapes up a lot like that one. One difference, these two are both aging. brawler vs the boxer. Both at the top of their game. You tube that fight, if you haven't seen it. A beautiful thing.

I won $20 on it. I could also see Ray getting the hell out of the pocket with Duran in the second half where he began to take control so I bet on Ray in the second fight.....Sure didn't expect to win that bet as easy as I did though, lol. From the Buchanan fight to the Palomino fight Duran's inside game had evolved to the best I've seen at keeping opponents off balance and guessing. I imagine his ancient trainer Ray Arcel had a lot to do with that.

I'm thinking Pacquiao's talents are a bit different and won't add up to the kind of pure pressure that's right to beat Mayweather. I even think the betting odds should be a bit wider but I know that Roach will have Manny focusing on pressure. Floyd's fight off the ropes is a very good one but I think he'd be wise to stay off the ropes with this southpaw.

i agree. I don't see manny winning. I will be pulling for him, though. & styles make fights so, you never know...
Yes, Duran against Sugar Ray is one of my top fighters. In interviews Leonard says he knew Duran was back home & partying it up. So he put the pressure on for the second fight. Duran was never the same.

Arcel quit Duran's corner after that fight but he should never have let Duran take that on such short notice. Maybe their disagreement was about that as well. I knew Tommy Hearns would smash Duran.....matter of styles, but every time I thought Duran's career was through he would surprise me by winning another title at an even heavier weight. A throwback is what Duran was.
