LOL.
Went back to Bikeforums and it had logged me out and instituted a new "Ask a question" popup.

how to stop the "ask a question" popup? Answer: log in
how do i stop the annoying unneeded pia popup that says
'Ask a Question
get answers from real people!'
when I come to this site?
And also the other popup window (one annoyance isn't enough?) too- it says
'You might also like'
Sorry, but I don't like.
I couldn't find an option to stop these annoyances in the Control Panel- how can it be done?
Thanks!!

Happened to me too the other day.
I was logged out of the site for some reason and "Ask a Question" popup started. Very annoying.
I logged back in and everything was good again.

I use Firefox and one of their banner blockers. Blocks most pop-ups except the ones I give permission to. I've never seen the pop-up mentioned so I guess it works.

It's happening on Chrome on both my Windows 10 machine as well as my iPad, but not on Safari on my iPad.
My assorted Chrome browsers AdBlock software, but doesn't seem to work on this.

It isn't a pop up window but a fly out embedded in the main window.
It only seems to happen when I'm logged out.
If you are not logged in it takes you to a sign up page.

I've seen it only when I was logged out, which happened on both PCs and all browsers last week. Presumably some sort of reset. Haven't seen it again since logging in and clicking the option to stay logged in.

yes, you have to stay logged in to get rid of it. There are threads in the user assistance forum about this. Click the "remember me" box before you log in and you will never see it again
Oh, and I gave this thread an informative title.

I got it a year and a half ago. As of this moment it has blocked 2,103,369 pop ups. The best free thing I ever got. But nowadays a lot of websites have come up with a way to have a pop up come up and tell you to turn off your ad blocker. Some sites won't even let me on unless I do it. I refuse on principal.

I may be thinking of another site, and am really too lazy to go look (as I don't care that much) but it seems like I recall a button to click where it shows you offline whether you are logged in? I am sure you would know better than me...but it seems that would readily and easily eliminate said issue.

Fred, you gotta log in. Use invisible mode so we don't know you're here.
