off topic question for people at bikeforums
thought I would ask here because I figured a moderator or someone might be able to give a better estimate at which is the answer. also, i am too lazy to look into it myself(sorry fot that).
anyway, what is the longest running thread? in terms of how long it ran for, without a lapse in replies, and how many replies?
I just thought it would be interesting information, because im a loser like that. I like to know useless information.
can you help feed my stagnent mind?

I suspect the longest running thread would be "How was your commute today", in Commuting. It was started in April 2002, it has more than 9000 replies and nearly 200 000 views and it's still running strong.
But the monster thread that nearly killed the Forums server was the (in)famous "Your brand new U-lock is not safe" -thread in General Cycling Discussion, started in Sep 2004. Joe has asked not to link directly to it, so I won't. It has currently "only" 1100 or so replies, but nearly 500 000 views, and it got almost that big in the first couple of months or so. It still gets replies every now and then, although it's hard to imagine anything new to add to the topic after the original mad rush.
