Don't like the new search function

One of the ways I would keep track of my many conversations in BF was to search for threads I had contributed to: and in the old search function, I would enter my username, and check "threads". It would show all the threads I had posted in, and if any of those threads were hilighted in bold type, I would know there were new posts. I can't seem to do that now.

Can the old functionality be built into a new function? I have to admit that I am finding this to be a big enough inconvenience that I am considering abandoning the forum (well, for a few other reasons as well, but this is the big one). It is making my participation feel like a series of random statements rather than a conversation.

If you click on your username on a post (i.e., like this one), you can select to "Find more posts by cooker".

I too feel like a bunch of random comments versus a conversation... but the weekly update is a time when I go back and check the threads I contributed to and see what has been said.

You're joking right. Click your name in a post and go "find all posts by $USERNAME".

That will find all posts by a given user, not recent additions to threads the user has posted in as the old search did. The old version was much better. Now it's nearly impossible to keep updated in threads unless you site on BF for many, many, hours a day.....

I realize how bad the new Search function is now that the old is gone. I continually get http:// 5000 errors. It sucks.

If you set your default to "subscribe" to any thread to which you post, and then later click on "User Control Panel" you will automatically get any additions to old threads in which you have been active.

That is how I keep track of old threads. Somtimes I will get an addition to a thread that was 3-4 years old, and the Control Panel shows it.

Even if you don't post to a thread in which you have an interest, you can "subscribe" - use "Thread Tools" - to keep track of what is happening in that thread.

I'll give it a try. Thanks.
