How About A Gear Hub Bikes Forum

With the increased popularity of gear hub bikes, based on manufacturers offerings, how about a dedicated gear hub bikes forum.

As is gear hub threads are scattered through multiple forums. You have forums for most other categories of bikes.

Can't gear hubs go on a number of category of bikes, though?

an honest, ignorant question

Well, there are geared hub bikes in Alt, LCF, and Commuting, but they kinda show up everywhere. We're not at the point of needing a dedicated forum for them.

Gear hubs can go on virtually all categories of bikes from recumbents to FG and mountain bikes. However a Gear Hub forum would give a common place to discuss the gear hubs themselves and any hub related problems. Those are the same regardless of bike type they are mounted on generally speaking. As it is now I have seen hub related posts in Bicycle Mechanics, Classic & Vintage, Commuting, Utility Cycling, Singlespeed & Fixed Gear, and General Cycling Discussion groups. Probably some that I have missed too.

With gear hubs available from 3 to 14 speed currently they can be installed on just about anything, and occasionally are by owners.

About the only bike category I would not expect a gear hub discussion to show up on is Track Cycling.

And to think I am in favor of paring down the number of sub-forums.

To be honest with you, I believe the single-speed "Cruiser" is countered by a lot more 2-7 speed hubbed models than many believe, especially today.

We could make it extremely simple and have TWO Forums:

Working and

BUSTED

+100,000,000.

There are already far too many forums. It's fine to have a subforum if you stay on topic for that subforum but many of them tend to wander all over the place.

PS Is that your dog? I'm sure I've forgotten but I just dig that picture.

Technically, it's my wife's dog now. That was taken in Newcastle, Australia, at Horseshoe beach. It's a beach specifically for dogs. Somewhere, I have some photos of little Bruiser body surfing there.

Teach him to watch out for coral--it's downright mean. Friend nearly lost a thumb tangling with some.

Thanks. We don't have too much of that to worry about here in Utah.

I like the idea of a gear hub forum. I'm upgrading both of our mountain bikes to rohloff's this winter. I had a hard time looking for information on BikeForums about geared hubs.

Contact Warrick at Thylacine. He should know a thing or two about them.
