Picture Posting Problems - NOT a thread to practice posting pictures!

There should be a thread for people to ask questions! There are two "How to post picture" threads and both say "do this" and then the rest of the posts are practice pictures with no one answering questions asked along the way. I have simple questions and complaints that don't seem to be answered (and I did search).

COMPLAINTS
1. BF Complaint - The newest "how to post picture" thread has great graphics. And then it shows a picture being selected that is way over the 100KB size limit.
2. BF Complaint - Why isn't there an obvious message that there is a 100KB limit? I couldn't find it with search.
3. Forum Software Complaint - I know it's the software's fault, but it's really irritating that a red exclamation mark in the download window (and then the window freezing) is the only warning I get. Also, the whole picture insert is pretty poor (complaint about the software, not BF).

QUESTIONS
1. How do I post a picture in-line (i.e., not a thumbnail)? As I remember, I got the same result when I used "Insert Attachment" as "Insert Inline."
2. I just tried inserting JPG files into a post. I shrunk them to 580 pixles wide using IRAFANVIEW (just as I have numerous times successfully in the past) to get under the 100K barrier and they wouldn't post. The forum insert picture dialog box showed them at 97KB and 98KB. I tried them together and individually.
3. Haven't the economies of servers improved enough that you could abandon the 100K limit anyway?

And, since I'm on a rant anyway:
1. Why do you not feature the benefits of premium membership?
2. Why, oh why, do you have a 30 second limit on searches? Are you just trying to be irritating? No results for "insert attachment inline"? Well let's just wait a while before you try to find the answer another way!

200# as of 9/9/2012 (mostly from diet, 40# in 5 mo)
2010 (1st 7 mo) = 4.7K miles (a little nuts), 2011 = 6K

1) 30 second post time. It's to prevent us from being overwhelmed if a bot gets past the Captcha system. The 30 second limit is actually a global setting, so it also affects search and it's the nature of the software.
2) Re Photos. Frankly, I prefer Photobucket over our system. It's easier, and you get a larger image, and it's free. Use the forum code they provide and paste it into your posts. Yo0u get images like this:

It's the code that starts with

My step by step

Thank you Tom.

I like step-by-step instructions, so here's what I did.
1. I signed up with ImageShack.com (I had problems with Photo Bucket, and when found numerous other people have also).
2. I uploaded my image (800x600).
3. I click on the picture to enlarge it and there are two sets of code to embed this picture - one as a full-sized picture and one as a thumbnail.
4. I selected the code to embed the full-sized picture in a forum.
5. I pasted the actual code on the following line (there is an extra line "Uploaded with ImageShack" that I did not include -

Hooray!

Here's the posting for a tumbnail (including the "Uploaded with..." -

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I like to think that people in years to come will be reading some of my posts--unfortunately with these external picture-storage places you have to keep using it actively or in 6 months they delete all your pictures.

Any solution for this?

Or you can do this, but you have to resize the images for our maximum

If I need to emphasize details I'll Photoshop the image or maybe work in MS Paint before inserting it...I'm fine with that.

If I make a movie clip I'll link it as such and that is a great size as well as opening to the source if you click on the window. I'm also happy with that.
