So does it require "premium" membership or being a mod to be able to delete posts?

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Premium member or staff, yes. Basic membership is, well, basic. Also, with premium you lose the ads, and get a bigger avatar, and can embed video, and get photo albums and create social groups. You also get access to the Marketplaces and Titanium Club.

Sorry to bump this again... I've been trying to find a way to delete my own photos from the site. Surely there must be a way. Help, please?

+100. I don't even think you should be allowed to remove your own post, but I could live with that. But no, if a thread has replies attached to it, nobody should be allowed to remove the thread. Not even the mods IMO.

Delete the posts and your pics go along with it. OR... you can click on "edit post" then remove the link to the pic.

We have had people who join here only to post porn or links to porn. I won't leave that up here. Even if people DO reply to it. Example of a member who has done that:

They started a thread about online dating with Russian beauties. This is a family friendly site. We do what we have to do in order to keep it that way.

I tested it and it doesn't seem that I can delete a thread, a post within a thread yes. Either way, I don't really want to delete a thread or post, I just want to have control over my photos. I haven't been posting many photos here because if this. I guess I will just continue not posting photos. Takes the fun out of some threads though.
Thanks.

If you are the original poster of a thread you certainly can delete the thread. Delete the original post and *poof* thread disappears.

Yes, you can delete a thread you started by editing the original post.

Nope. When I try to delete the original post I get these options:

But as I said, I don't care to delete threads or posts. When you go to reply, Advanced, Manage Attachments, you will see all the photos you've ever uploaded to Bike Forums. Not sure what kind of managing you're meant to do, but you can't delete a photo from the list. That's what I'm talking about.

Please do not delete a thread if it already contains replies.

Plus, it helps the forum

I can't believe that people post hundreds, and even thousands, of times and are not a Premium Member. Maybe because it's so expensive--twenty-five cents a week.

If someone has several hundred posts and is not a member I would limit their posts to about ten words.

I post photos from Photobucket. When I remove them from Photobucket they can no longer be viewed on BF.

+1 I think all that you have to do is move it in Photobucket and it "breaks the link".

Agreed. Providing a link to an external photo URL is the best way to post images on the forums.

This.

Besides you post anything on the interwebz and *poof* you have already lost control of it. See my screen shot of HotRussianGirl reposted by Siu, not that I care because as soon as I posted it I knew it was wild. Just like those HotRussianGirls...

My photobucket account is just for those pictures I want to share. After you share you no longer have control.

If there is a thread that starts out with a porn link or spam, it will be removed, even if it has a reply.

I'd consider removing the inappropriate link first if some of the replies are legitimate, but yes, I agree to that one in general.

There have been threads that are started out with porn or spam and the usual replies are

"Take your spam elsewhere"

Or

"reported"

What would a legitimate response to a porn link or spam be? Not challenging you, just curious. Because if there is such a reply, then I would definitely leave up the thread. BUT...

If I delete that link and the person is banned, what is the use of keeping the thread?

You're probably right. Now that I think about it, what would be a legitimate reply to a spam? I was kinda thinking about those like "Posts like this have no place in BF," but again, those who post a reply like that would certainly not mind seeing the whole thread gone.

A lot of times porn or spam will appear in the middle of a thread already started by someone else. In that case we ban the account and delete the post but keep the thread.
