Photo posting Q

How does one post a non-thumbnailed photo? I can only post a link to one of my photos, for example. My hard drive stored photos get posted as thumbnails only. Thanks...

You are uploading those pics...if you post the pic on another public area and use the url tag [ img ] for example (take out the spaces) it will publish full size

Do I post my url tag in the message area?
For example: https://members.aol.com/XXXXXX/XXXXX.jpg
What exactly do I do with this address?

Thanks!

You mean pictures like this?

The link you gave is the web address for the html page the picture is visible on. If you right-click on the picture and select Properties, it'll give you the URL for the picture itself. Select that address and press CTRL-C to copy it. Then, paste that address inside the image tags of your post.

Thanks. I tried it with my AOL address and it worked. Basically, I was just curious how this was done. Actually, since I have an ancient PC, it sometimes takes several minutes to load up a page containing non-thumbnailed photos, which irritates me.....especially people with such large files.... so I end up not viewing that page at all in most cases. I know, I need a new PC.

But without the spaces

Which is a very naughty habit. It's basically theft of bandwith, a practice that is eSocially frowned upon. Every time that picture is called (when a page loads that is 'looking' for that picture) the bandwith of that transfer is charged to the site that is hosting it. With thousands of hits, that bandwidth can add up rapidly. What is best to do is to right click on the picture, do a "Save As" to your local machine, then upload the image to YOUR host, and then publish/link that URL.

Look at it this way monogodo, if your host allowed you 100 transfer units a month at the basic subscription level for you to have your web site up. And on that website you had some really cool pix that every one was linking to. Those pictures were sized at .01 unit, it wouldn't take too many times for people who weren't visiting your site but looking at pictures that you have hosted... to eat up your bandwidth allottment for the month. Now, your site is down because its limit has been reached, or you pay more next month for more bandwidth. Either way, you wouldn't feel good about it.

I understand that, Stacey, and try to host as many images as possible on my own host. Not everyone has hosting space to load images to, though. He had a link to the page with the image, I told him how to get the image to appear, instead of a link.

And thanks for the grade school level lesson on bandwidth. I really appreciate being treated like an ignorant child. It really makes my day. Please continue to do so. I'll look forward to each and every visit here and the continuing insults towards my intelligence that I'll find here.

Thanks Stacy, There was no such thing as "bandwidth", when I was in grade school so your lesson was not lost on me.

Dreadfully sorry... I wasn't attempting to insult YOUR intelligence... or anyone elses for that matter.

If my reducing a somewhat complex concept to the lowest common denomenator so that OTHERS as well can understand it, makes you feel like an ignorant child then that's on you.

Please, stop back often and I'll do my best to deflate your precious ego and inslut your limited intelligence. Most of all I promise extremly hard to chap your thin and sensitive skin.

I'm more interested in what exactly is involved in inslutting someone's intelligence. I find the concept to be rather intriguing.
