'You have been quoted' email notifications
I belong to a lot of forums and I've never seen this type of notification before. I don't want to be notified if someone quotes me. What's worse, though, is that two email notifications appear to be generated when someone replies to you in a subscribed thread and (as is common practice) they happen to quote you.
I don't see anything in the settings to disable 'you've been quoted' notifications. Am I missing something, or does this need to be disabled system-wide? Seems to me that at the very least, two notifications should never be sent out as the result of a single post.

1. Click on 'Settings' on the upper right hand corner, above the BF logo
2. On the left pane: My Settings->User Tagging->Settings
3. Center pane: Check to disable the unwanted notifications.
You can disable all of them if you'd like and it won't interfere with normal Forum use at all.

Thanks. I probably looked at that page and didn't even know what I was looking at. TBH, I still don't.

They're probably useful to some people, but I don't know why.

There has been some change to this in the last week. I never used to receive such notifications either and recently began to get those notifications too, so I don't think it's a matter of your settings. Mine have not changed but I also began to get those notices so I'm betting that something has been changed here in terms of how the forums work.

Yes, apparently it's a recent change. I still don't understand what anything on that page represents.

The forum software was updated recently to add additional features. The default has the features turned on; you can change your personal settings to turn them off.

well, i fixed THAT.
now if i could lose the tracking (? whatever it is that throws ads at you just for looking at something. just 'cause i look doesn't mean i wanna buy)
2 cool sci-fi books: space merchants and the merchant's war
it is advertising taken to extremes, and invading other planets to force them to buy unwanted stuff.
notice in grocery stores lights come on in cooler cases as you pass? think about advertising coming on and addressing you by NAME as you come within range. 3-d floozies cooing at you (or chippendale types). they know your gender preferences and the ads automatically play to your lifestyle. they know everything about you. you cannot escape. pbbbt, the governmant may be the least of our worries......
reminds me of commodore perry in 1857, forcing japan to trade (meaning buy our stuff, but not buy theirs) with us. they didn't HAVE anything we wanted. no technology there.
anyway, i shut allll that junk off my settings. thanks for making a fuss!

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.
