Search wait period: counterproductive?

I'm new to BF, so please excuse me if this is a stupid question/issue to raise.

When I am performing searches on the forums, the site will only allow me to do one search every 30 seconds. Why is there a wait period?

The reason I ask is that a recurring refrain (in fact, perhaps the MOST common refrain) from experienced board members is "This has been asked before, why didn't you do a search???" If searching through the collected knowledge of BF is essential for the community to function and not get bogged down with repeated questions and topics, then why hinder people who are trying to proactively avoid the problem and do research?

Thanks,

Nat

What's that?

you have to wait 60 seconds between reporting posts

rm -rf 01-03-14 06:59 AM

I use google search with "site:bikeforums.net" instead. Zero seconds wait, and good results.

For example:

site:bikeforums.net "dial it up to 400 watts"

site:bikeforums.net "rm -rf" blue ridge parkway
