I'm new, have a question about email notifications

I registered and started a thread asking for technical advice. I then went to my general settings and changed my notification preference to "instant, using email." I have one subscribed thread at present, the one I started, and I see that the notification method is "weekly" and I see no way to change that. Clicking "weekly" does nothing, I see nothing in the Tools for the thread that lets me change the notification preference for my lone subscribed thread, which I started. I must be missing something. Is it not possible to get notifications more than once a week for that thread? I do see that this thread I just started (this very one) does have "instant" notification, while the first one remains weekly.

Also, when I go to the list of my subscribed threads there's a checkbox under Notification, which is by default unchecked. If I check it, all those checkboxes become checked. What is the significance of this checkbox? Presumably if I get instant or weekly notifications, there would be no need of a "Notification" checkbox. What is this?

The "Instant, using email" should notify you of new posts when they happen. I'll send this over to IB so they can check it out.

Thank you. Again, I go to my subscribed threads and the one I started yesterday (before making change to notifications) is shown as WEEKLY notifications. However, this thread (started after changing my notifications preference to instant email notifications) is shown as INSTANT. I see no way to change the thread from yesterday to INSTANT.

Try going to "settings" and click on "all subscriptions". Then go back to upper right and click on notification.

Those checkboxes are the first half of it. After you find a subscription whose frequency you want to change, check the box. Then go to the bottom of the list of subscriptions and click "selected threads" and change them to Instant.

You can also unsubscribe to them and resubscribe with Instant individually.
