Tech recommends the following for Chrome users experiecing this issue:

1. "Customize and control Google Chrome" ('hamburger' icon in the top right corner of the browser)
2. "Settings"
3. "Show advanced settings..."
4. "Content settings..."
5. Under "Cookies," do NOT check the option for "Keep local data only until you quit your browser." Instead, check "Allow local data to be set (recommended)."

The setting you describe is exactly how I've had it. These are not the wrong settings you are looking for.

The problem appears to have been fixed or abated for me somehow. I thought BF had done something.

It's happening to me. I don't know the exact time limit but 3 minutes sounds close. I'll be typing a message and then by the time I click post, it redirects me to log in again. I thought I lost my messages, but luckily was able to go back to the previous page and the form was still filled in. So I have to copy the message to clipboard, log back in, navigate to the forum again, pasts my message into a new posting, recreate the title and then post. I never encountered this on other forums, except if I idle for way longer. This was the fasted log out I ever experienced so far.

Windows 8.1 64Bit using latest version of IE

EDIT: same thing just happened to me on my MacBook using Safari browser
