It's an occasional re direct problem for me as well, and while I'm just reading a post. I don't even click on anything yet a re direct happens at times.

If you're using the Firefox browser, the "NoScript" and "RequestPolicy" add-ons can prevent this from happening.

I suppose Linux makes you feel so much more superior than all those superior feeling Mac users...

It's the difference between feeling superior and knowing you're superior.

Thanks for all the input, I've learned quite a bit.

I'm not against advertising here, even as the ads slow down my page downloads quite a bit I'm sure.

But I'm curious how standards are enforced that put limits on advertiser's "code" content, such that mild "hacking" or even criminal code doesn't get passed along.

I'm wondering if there are certifications for advertisers or for contractors who might write the code for them? Do some websites demand certified standards and others maybe not?

Just seems like the wild west when an actual redirect occurs, one that is meant to deceive the viewer, so trust in a website's delivered content is lost.

A local PC professional tells of problems when people visit "adult" sites where pc security is actually compromised, so obviously some lowering of standards there..

FWIW, we don't run "redirect" ad software, but the occasional ad containing malware does make it in to our rotation. Get a screenshot next time it happens and send it to me at tom(at)bikeforums(dot(net so I can refer it to IB security/traffic. Malicious ads are the current vector de jour with Eastern European Phishermen.

Thank you.

That member can be snarky but I've never heard of you and you have 15,013 in just two tears longer time than I've been here, so that must be good...

and no suspensions or temporary bans I can remember.
