How to get all the updates in subscribed threads/forums?
I find it rather annoying that though I'm subscribed to a thread, I must visit the website before I will get anymore email updates about the thread. Consider rather general threads like the ISO and New Classic Rides threads on the Classic & Vintage forum or any of the For Sale subforums. I can tell at a glance from the email notification I receive whether or not the post which triggered the email is of interest to me. I don't think I should have to wander over to the web site just to force the reset of some internal timestamp or counter. As things currently work I miss many posts.
Can't "subscribed" really mean "subscribed"?

Double check your settings. Luckily, I am subscribed to one thread and the options I have for notifications are:
-through the Control Panel only
-Instant email
-Daily email
-Weekly email
Might want to double check what your current default is as well. Mine is set to "do not subscribe".
ETA: You might also want to double check your email's spam/junk folder. The site could be sending notifications to you, but your mail service/client could be classifying them as spam/junk if there is a high enough volume. An example- I have two accounts on another site, messages in Gmail show up in the 'primary' folder (too lazy to reclassify as social), but the messages in Outlook go to 'junk'.

Thanks. I did check my settings before posting. My Default Thread Subscription Mode is "Instantly, using email," and I basically never select any of the other choices when subscribing to a new thread. Looking at the email I received notifying me of @no1mad's reply, I see this at the bottom:
which is, I think, the rub. The email included his full response:
Had I not wanted to respond to his post (say, if he was offering a Campagnolo 980 rear derailleur for sale), I think I should have been able to ignore it and not risk missing future posts to the thread (such as a post offering a Campagnolo Cambio Corsa-equipped bike for sale).
There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again.
