You should start a guys-only forum on ezboards or something. Post a link to it in your signature. I'll meet you there.

Private board. There isn't anything against the rules per se. Just think of this as those female only health clubs. Those a completely legal (up here) anyways.

Vulgarity not only includes vulgar language and pictures but also sexist, racist, anti-religious and homophobic language which may offend other members.

now does that not pretain to this very matter of women having their own forum

I don't think so unless the Women's Cycling forum is simply a vehicle for posts of a sexist, racist, anti-religious and homophobic language nature which I've been assured by many of its participants that it is not.

I have to say it isn't a political discussion. I gave my examples and they hold true. THATS the entire reasoning and thats the end of it from my end. I don't plan on debating womens rights and/or equality. The reasoning is really obvious if thought out and it helped keep the kids from the playpen so to speak.

The existance of the Women's Forum used to bother me more than it does now. I still think that it's exclusionary, and that, for equality-sake, there should be a Men's Forum, but I understand why we have one and not the other. It also doesn't bother me as much as it would if I could see that it existed, but couldn't gain access, as if it were taunting me with a link that wouldn't work for me. Since I can't see it, I don't care about it. Besides, my wife has visited it, and informed me that it's everyday women's stuff that I wouldn't find interesting. (And no, I haven't accessed it using her login.)

Again, for the last time, read my post above, it explains a good enough reason for privacy. Whether you know or not, or whether you would be polite or not is irrelevant. There are those that can't be mature about it. Thats the last time I post, the last time I explain, if you still don't get it, please feel free to search for the previous debate. The exact same arguments came up, before I was a mod, and the exact same decision has been made.

As to the first question about why 'women' stuff on a cycling site, why do we have foo, music, politics, or any other general discussion topics...because this site is more than 'just' a cycling site.

You sound just as bad as a militant nazi lesbian. You're looking for respect and validation in the wrong places.

Just go argue about affirmative action in the political forum and leave these good moderators alone.

If a group of women were talking quietly in a cafe, do you think you would have the right to join their conversation? If they said they wanted to keep their conversation private, would you try to butt in, or would you find something else to do?

You really need to learn how to read better.

Maelstrom has explained it quite well here, and the search option exists for a reason.

may i also point out that not only does a womens forum work out logically and "on paper" but it has been proving its self to be practicle and functional in reality for over 6 months now.

Joe put up the "Men's Forum" and as others have mentioned, it fell flat (as expected and explained already).
The Women's Forum seems to be doing just fine and this would show that it is nice to be able to have a place to discuss what they want related to being a female cyclist. I asked a few female riders and now better understand why it is a good thing the way it is. If you are curious, I recommend you politely do the same.
Joe gladly facilitated the request for a female forum, and it is moderated by female moderators under the same guidelines as this forum is.

I now offer you Trey Parker and Matt Stone's translation of the topic of this thread:

Side note: I rode my bike today. About 30 miles overall. I contributed to the local economy five times and almost met injury twice. I discussed with a complete stranger why honey and cream tastes better in coffee. I got a haircut too. I carried a new set of track tubulars across town and back again. I also read from Ovid's Metamorphosis. And not once did I think about whether or not Bikeforums.net requies a Men's Forum. Good times

I honestly don't see why there has to be a completely seperate forum dedicated to seats with the little hole in the middle, but at the same time, I really don't care or feel excluded in any way. You GO, girl! (The strains of "I'm Every Woman" swelll in the background.)

Here's the main reason why women have a seperate forum... it's a place to put all the boring topics!

It shouldn't. None of us has to be part of every conversation everywhere. This is a private forum. And if some people want to talk privately, that's fine with me.

That said, I'm curious to know what the LBS folks talk about in their private forum. That would probably have more impact on the rest of us than the women's forum. But, again, this is a private forum and they want to talk privately.
