Forum: Singlespeed & Fixed Gear

I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!

is lame. All the words are bigger which means I have to scroll down to see as many threads. I am not blind, I could see them before. I can't click to the last page of a thread from the main ss/fg forum, I first have to enter the thread, then click last page once inside. I don't think big bubbly...

  1. The BD $279 Motobecane vs. custom build or complete of CL?

Kinda at a cross roads deciding now...........I can buy a complete 10 or 12 spd bike off CL for about $100 which will need converting and prolly tires, tubes. I think I could convert under $100. Or, I could buy a converted one for about $200-250 with mostly stock parts that came on the bike like...

Don't laugh. I have a set of Tektro R530s, which is Tektro's better brakes, and a set of Campy Xenons, which is their bottom of the range. Which is going to perform better? Just wondering if anyone has tried either or both.

I contacted an at-home bike repair service to true my new wheels, put the tires on, and to make sure I put the bike together correctly (Mercier Kilo TT). 6. How come when i say "nice bike" to a female FG rider, they think im hitting on them?

im just trying to say nice bike. are girls that conceited where they think every guy that says nice bike is trying to hit on them? this seems to hold true with FG girls...probably because they think they are the ****.

Fakie wheelie http://vimeo.com/7677701 Can you do that on your bmx? I should say I'm not a FGFS fanboy and I don't do tricksies on my ficksies, but at a certain point you have to just tip your hat.

  10. SS or FG options for mid 80's univega?

I've got a circa 1986 Univega Gran Turismo in my basement that I'd like to convert to either a Ss or FG ride. The bike has a 6 spd freewheel on it (rear dropout spacing is 126mm). What are my options since I don't have a cassette hub on the rear wheel? The wheels are really nice on this bike, 42...

Can one put an aero brake lever on track drops? I want to get a pair of B123s or 125s and I'm not really a fan of the little bmx lever, but I've heard that aero levers don't really fit well on track drops. I've also never seen a picture of track drops with an aero lever on them, which only...

I commute on my conversion bike, rain or shine, and when it rains it definitely sucks. I think a fender would help prevent the brown streak from my ass up my backpack. Anyone know of a cheap, decent looking fender that will attach to an old schwinn road frame?

I've never been a bike messenger nor have I played one on the Internet. If I were doing this daily, I would probably use a...

Hello everyone. Right now i am running a 46x16t, 76.9 gear inches, 2.9 gear ratio. If i ran a higher gear ratio i would use my front brake so skid patches aren't important. The type of riding i'm doing is mostly commuting from home to school and back. The route is about 1.5 miles and maybe one...

i've been trying to figure out my size in a track frame by comparing measurements to my current road bike, which fits me perfectly. of course, nothing matches up perfectly, and i wouldn't expect them to... i've done a lot of reading. some say to go with a bike that most closely matches my...
