A buddy from work and I are heading up to Philly on this Wed, Nov. 18th to ride for a bit and maybe grab a beer after. Is there anybody out there that rides either FG or SS on Long Island. Specifically on the south shore (less hills). I have met one other guy who rides FG and we have gone on a couple rides so far. Unfortunatley we have to deal with the drivers here, I am sure you have heard the horror...

Taking on a 300 mile ride in September, basically 5 60 mile days. Advise on Gear Ratios? I ride a 42/16 road bike and a 45/16 mt. bike. I don't know if the 42/16 will keep up on flat or downhills with the other event riders. Thinking 48/16 if i get the bike light enough.
