  1. adding a gear using pro neck chainrings

Here http://share.ovi.com/media/currentresident.bicycle/currentresident.10166 is a photo of a triple made with a 40 tooth tuff neck and a 43 tooth pro neck chainring. The inner bolts run through all 3 chainrings. The 40 tooth is countersinked as an inner chainring and the 43 tooth is...

  2. Please help identify this tandem.

On Aussie ebay: www.ebay.com.au Item number 190349386672 I'm pretty sure it's not a Colnago, probably homemade? Has anyone seen something like this before?

  3. Wet weather tires?

I'm asking this in this forum because I have a lot of respect for the posters here, and because we have double the reason to want our tires to stay stuck to the road. This wish was just emphasized to me when friend of mine went down on a very slick straight road, just from front wheel steering...

  4. Taking the tandem down to Long Beach. Route suggestions?

Hey All, Kath and I are taking a trip to SoCal next week and will be taking the daVinci with us. We want to start riding in Long Beach. Any route suggestions? 30 or 40 miles is good.

  5. Cyclocross on a tandem?

Anyone out there ever do a cyclocross race on a tandem? I know its been done and would be interested to hear any stories, tips, advice from those who may have given it a try. I think we're gonna give it a try next weekend. There's actually a tandem class in a local cyclocross race next weekend...

  7. Tires for tandem tour in Northern Patagonia (Chile+Argentina)

Wife and I will embark on our first self suppported tandem tour (second really but the the first was only a long weekend) in the lake region of Northern Patagonia (Bariloche - Puerto Montt -Chaiten - futaleufu - Esquel - El Bolson). Some of it fairly remote country, about 400 km of mostly gravel...

  8. What's up with the Florida group rides

A short while back, and also while at the STR, there was mention of trying to organize some Florida rides. I know it can be a busy time of year, but the weather seems pretty good and I was wondering if any tandems are gathering for rides or short trips. I know the Villages has their ride. ...

  9. Question about forks.

So, despite that we haven't really ridden our Burley yet, I'm curious about fork options. Currently the bike is using a 1 1/8in threaded fork with a quill stem. I don't mind either, personally. But 1 1/8in quill stems are quite the rarity. The one is has is a ZOOM adjustable and I'm not really...

  10. Tandem Rally in California?

The only one I can find on Google is the Rice Vally Ride out of Chico. Is that the only one?

  12. 100 km is not a long way...

...but for my VI stoker it was a great achievement for his attempt and in 36C deg. Sat 14th Nov, we did a 100 km Audax ride with 4 other tandem teams and 150+ solos. Undulating course, we actually out-climbed some solos on the major climb and down hills were an absolute blast...very addictive....

  13. Low Spoke Count Wheels

This picture was taken at the Southern Tandem Rally and is posted on another thread. See the silver tandem propped up against the tree? Look at the low spoke count wheels. Anyone know what brand they are? They don't look like Shimano or Rolf, but maybe they are.

  15. Assessing Team Improvement

Absent actual power measurement I'm finding climbing speed to be a reasonable means of assessing our improvement. The Garmin 705 may not measure grade accurately, but I find it to be very repeatable so two grades that read out as 6% (+-0.5%) are probably pretty close. A 6% grade used to find us...

  16. Tandem Power Measurement

Any info out there in BF land on options available for tandem power measurement (wireless) that would be compatible with a Garmin (ANT+)? I looked on the Saris website and nothing jumped out that appeared to be compatible with a rear-disc equipped, 145mm spacing tandem.

  17. Diamondback tandem

We have been riding our 2007 Diamondback Wildwood tandem for two years. Maybe 1,200 miles. Mostly bike trails here in Maine. Gotta love the carriage trails at Mt Desert Island. Anyway.....our tandem isn't the Wildwood I see everywhere, it is unique to 2007. Looks like made only that year. It has a...

  18. Quick Release question

Wanted to get a QR set for our travels case drop out mounts. Was hoping to find Shimano XT's available from the local bike shop, but none of the catalogs had them listed. I need a set of 100mm / 145mm. Saw some on eBay a while back and picked up a set. These were advertised as 145mm, but I'm...

  19. Questions about a Los Dos

I am fairly new here and hope this question hasn't been asked a million times. My wife and I are thinking about getting a tandem. We both stand about 5'-10" and found a used Los Dos in 22x20. We test rode the bike and liked it, but, there are a couple of things we would like to change if it is...

  20. Tandems at Swap meet

Been participating in the GABA/Tucson bike swap meet for about 25 years. 3,000 to 5,000 folks come and browse for old and new stuff at (mostly) bargain prices. Spotted the following tandems for sale . . . A 31-year old custom Calvert (made in WA). Beautiful fillet brazing, Phil disc brake,...
