Anodzing Velocity Quills

I am currently riding a 2015 Masi CX Comp. I have already changed the groupset out on the bike with Force 1, but I'm trying to get the weight lower. The wheels on the bike are heavy but I want to keep the gold anodization. I was going to get a pair of Velocity Quills (because of weight and I can go tubeless) and try to see if I could get a bright anodization at a local shop, but no one will do bright.... I called around to the neighboring cities and talked to many business until I got one shop in Chicago that agreed to do it, but they needed the rims stripped of the paint and polished before they would do it. Does anyone else have any experience in taking off paint or anodizing? I'm not willing to do powder coat in gold so that is out of the question. I want to keep at as similar to the original wheelset.
Here is a picture of the previous rims: Masi Bikes - Cyclocross - CX Comp

You got more money or time? Just get the wheels rebuilt with a rim that pleases your fickle aesthetics..

or buy another wheel set ride those through the slush until spring..

Since it's a disk bike you might consider actually painting the rim. I'm sure you can find BBS-color touch-up paint.

Why would I consider painting the rim other than anodizing the rim? I can't think of a reason why running disc would make a difference.

I have the money and I could wait out until Spring, but I would like to have it completed by the end of January.

OK, whatever floats your boat. It's just another way to add color. The disks matter because you don't need clean sidewalls if it's not a rim brake.

People have used Ovencleaner to etch away anodizing , Would I do this to a wheel built up ? NO.

Just order another Hand built wheel set , Your Local shop can do that, or order a set made up elsewhere

Tear the wheels apart To remove rims .
maybe you have a Powdercoater to Use Halo (tm) its a reflective material with a Greyish look in daylight.

but will be brighter in headlights in the dark
(The big cost in Powder coat is The Electrical power to make the heat to melt the stuff, 2nd. is Prep time. )

Anodizing is like aluminum electroplating Aluminum (needs to be immersed in an acidic bath,
and an electric current passing from 1, pole to another* thru the solution with dissolved aluminum in it)

the surface color is added ..

* Anode & Cathode .

If the rims are eyeletted you can forget about anodize.
Eyelets will be either plated carbon steel, or a 300 series stainless, neither can go in an anodizing bath.

If the rim is plain, no eyelets then have at it.
