Tange Prestige?
Any opinions on this tubeset?
It seems like a good deal, at $88 for a full set at Nova, way cheaper than columbus or deddacia (sp?). Another benefit is the availability of round tange fork tubes (can you tell I lust after a custom fixed?).
I've heard that these tubes are flexy, but I only weigh about 140 lbs, so it might work in my favor.
While we're at it, Long Shen arrowpoint lugs, nagasawa track ends, glossy black with orange pinstriping. Uhh

"Prestige" denoted a heat treatment process Tange used. These tubesets came in a varity of thicknesses and diameters so you need to do your homework to determine what the exact specs are and then you can go from there. Good stuff by the way if the specs suite your needs.
From my experience, Nova is expensive. You can do better price wise from Joe Bringheli - he imports Dedacciai tubing. Also, check out Henry James and take a look at True Temper prices. Verses HT is similar to Prestige to give you some idea where you are.

HAHA! You call THAT flexy?! Please! Prestige? Man! Have you seen the new stuff out there today? All the steel manufacturers have tubesets that are razor thin! Literally .5mm on the butted sections!

Tange Prestige? Great tubing! Perhaps a bit of 'old school' compared to what's available now.
Had Co-Motion build us a full custom tandem in 1993 with Tange Prestige tubing. Put 58,000 miles on that tandem before we sold it. Got a custom carbon fiber ariZona tandem now. Nice!

Speaking of Prestige, I got a question about my two Bianchi frames...
My '87 Eros and '90 Axis both are Japanese built and have Bianchi "Superset II" tubing. I was told that this was actually Tange Prestige that was relabeled or it was Bianchi's version of Prestige. Does anybody know which is correct?

Have a Tange Prestige road bike and had three Prestige mountain bikes in the past before Ti. Great tube set and you can find their more complete product listing at:

Tange Prestige was some of the finest tubing ever offered on the early first generation mountain bikes
in fully lugged, brazed, and then later tig welded.
Strong, Responsive, Tange Prestige was, if I'm not mistaken, Japan's version of Reynolds 531 tubing.
I have 2 centurions, Super Lemans, 1976 and an Elite, 1984 ,the later with Tange Prestige, both lugged, and this frame set rocks! Back in the pre-carbon days!
On my 1986 Tange equiped Focus ,the quality is evident ,both by the workmanship
and the silky smooth ride! Long live Tange!
Here in Japan pronounced tan (rhymes with john),and ga (rhymes with duh)...John-duh...tan-ga!
So many tubing makers and so little time!
Go for it!

I am going to buy a cross bike. Currently they use Reynolds 631 and are in the process of chaning to Tange Prestige. Should I wait for the Tange or buy the bike w/ Reynolds or will even notice the difference. I need a strong bike because I am 225 and tour.
