Replacing fillet brazed tubes vs. lugged tubes
I know that lugged tubes can be replaced, but what about fillet brazed tubes? Since brass is used for fillet brazing and brass melts at a higher temp than silver, is there too much of a loss in strength because the tube that you're joining to goes through another high heat cycle?
On a lugless filet brazed frame, you would simply cut the damaged tubes out with a hacksaw as close to the joint as possible. Then clean up with a file and belt sander before filet brazing in a new tube.
