newbie question

I made the rookie mistake of trying to smash off an old crankset, which screwed up the threading when I went to put the crank puller in. I now have one side off and the other arm (with chainrings) is still attached. Anybody have any tricks to get it off? I really can't see how I could cut through the solid steel axle. thanks

remove the bottom bracket. it might work. or ger a gear puller from an auto parts store. try that too. the threads might not be that messed up you could try to grind off the messed up parts with a die grinder or the such.
