    Derailleur Hanger Woes

I recently got a steel bike frame that I plan on building into a commuter bike. The only problem is that the derailleur hanger, which was part of the frame, was clipped and filed off. I'm not very familiar with building bikes but I know that you can buy separate derailleur hangers that you can fasten to the frame. I'm not sure if this would be easy difficult or impossible. Your comments are evry much appreciated.

Depends on your current fitting, but generally they are very easy to instal, they might require that you drill and tap a hole. Mostly they are held in place with the axle pressure. The other option is to braze one on, but if you don't already braze, or weld, don't bother.

Walmart bikes sometimes have the derailleur mounted with one of these brackets, so if you are there you can sketch out what it looks like.
