Powdercoating 7xxx TIG welded aluminum

I thought that Google was inconclusive, so I wanted to see if anyone here had experience doing this.

The doubts are obvious: will the baking temperature of the powdercoat have an adverse effect on the aluminum, particularly the welds.

The other option is, obviously, just strip and probably rattle-can the frame. We'll see.

The frame in question is 7005 TIG welded aluminum. It comes in matte black, which Mrs Banzai isn't fond of...she wants something more...feminine.

Thanks for any advice.

Go for it. The temperature won't hurt anything.

We got some steel land yacht’s powdercoated and they had aluminium foot plates we wanted fixed up while we were there. But they wouldn’t do it because they reckoned after sandblasting it would oxidise before the powder went on making it lift up after it was finished. So have a chat to the powder-coating place to see if they will actually powder coat aluminium. You might have to look at anodizing or something similar
