Help!? No more flat tires!!??

Hi,
We are four students from Copenhagen, Denmark, who are currently investigating potential innovations and solutions which can help solve the problem of puncturing and flat tires. To our knowledge there is at present no 100 % puncture free solution for bike tires. We would very much appreciate contributions from you, in forms of concrete knowledge, links to manufacturers, knowhow about and experience with light and comfortable puncture free solutions for bikers?

/kind regards

Re:

Hi Dan

Our primary objective with the project is to gather in information about puncture free tires, not start an actual production ouselves. Hence therefor our aim is to test how well a forum like this is able to deliver information of high quality. We are not in any way willing to pay for this information - sorry

Kind Regards

Solid rubber tires have been tried many times.
Have ridden them.
Great on a super-smoth roadway but more inertia/slower rolling.
Terrible/uncomfortable ride on any other type of road surface.
Tested flat proof tires for a company years ago, called Nu-Tek. A terrible product!

Puncture proofing tires is impossible, doesn't even work on APCs where the tires are filled with foam in extreme cases. There are a range of products from airless bike tires that use foam strips, or solid tires as mentioned. The tires themselves can be armoured to some extent with poly insert or strips, kevlar belts etc... I find the best compromise for my conditions where glass is the main culprit is a kevlar belt and improved patching kit. At least in the developed world, the quality of the cycling experience is more important than having a tires that don't flat every few thousand miles.
