Tube replacement in Portland area
There's plenty of framebuilders here, but does anyone have an idea of a builder who isn't so swamped with projects that they could replace a tube in a decent amount of time? In my case it'd be the non-drive seatstay at that.

i just cant escape you guys.... serious, I'd ask Jordan Hufnagel once his new shop is all set up. It's at 17th and Ankeny right down from citybikes. Have Abe talk him up tho' I hear he's really busy, everybody and their mommy wants a "porteur" style track bike with stainless lugs and really expensive custom racks. Speaking of, Abe just bought and Ira Ryan, such a cool bike. It has vert drop outs with a der hanger, but you can run single speed or an internal gear hub and adjust the chain tension with a phil wood tandem eccentric BB. very cool. custom rack, and other cool stuff. He's swapping the full wood fenders for some Honjos, should look very "wool jersey and newsboy cap-ish"

yeah the bike is different, it's really something else when you see it. Lots of cool braze-ons that make you say "why didn't I think of that?" The owners a guy who is telling me he's "too old" for track bikes anymore, since they seem all the rage right now. Oh i forgot to mention it has hydraulic disc brakes, "for the weather" he says

I'll check it out. I'm not positive if the creaking noise is coming from the seatstay or drivetrain/pedals yet though... gotta change a couple variables, take off/reinstall the cranks, clean/lube everything and re-evaluate.

Creaks there are normally loose cranks in my life. Usually around the 500 mile mark after instalation. Good to know it isn't a big deal, whatever it may have been.

Yeah, and it's spinning smooth as a champ even after... a good 8 or 9 months. I'm actually pretty impressed with this one, my last one got like 3 months of rain before crapping out IIRC.
The nice decorative holes in the BB shell that Alien uses seem to let a good amount road grit in and gunk up the threads during a downpour, so I proceeded to clean everything out, re-lube and tape over the holes with aluminum tape.
Of course it could have been loose cranks too... I just took the whole shindig apart and put it back together relubed and clean, the bike is silent again like I like it!
