Pump peg: JB Weld okay?
Just got a frame back from having some work done to it and realized that I forgot to ask him to add a pump peg. If I buy one from a frame parts place and attach it with JB Weld (traditional head tube location), will it be secure enough? I'll be using a button style, not the hook style.

JB Weld can work just fine! I added a homemade pump peg to the headtube of my Mercian with JB Weld and it has held just fine for three years now! First...I scuffed up the paint where I was going to mount it. I used tape to hold it in place while it set up. My headtube is painted black so I touched it up with black Testors model paint....Looks Great!:thumb:

Sounds like you glued it to the paint, therefore your pump is actually held on with paint! That might work, but is so marginal a different degree of pump sping pressure different paint or primer could cause the pump to fall off. A falling pump could cause an accident, even if not terribly likely...

My experience with JBweld is that it is fairly strong but not strong enough that I'd trust using it on a pump peg even with meticulous surface prep down to the bare metal. But as ItchyZipper has said his has held for 3 years being bonded to the paint so I may be wrong.

I've never used JB Weld, but I'd be hesitant to try it for this. Why not just drill a little hole in the back of the head tube and use a sheet metal screw as your pump peg?
